A bit late (was flying / then celebrating at lunch) but — me too, me too! Officially an ETA grantee to Germany! I got the e-mail when I was standing in line at TSA at the airport... I read it and gasped and subsequently started shaking (naturally...). Then, called about 6 numbers in my phone until someone answered (@IchBinIch) and started freaking out! In my daze I tried walking through the metal detector still wearing my watch, shoes, and talking on my phone... pretty sure security thought I was on drugs. O:) Oh well! I am a scholar!!!!!!!

If you look on the bottom, it lists notifications by recent years and also has a tab for a spreadsheet comparing dates since 2007.

... I may or may not have already done that earlier this week! O:) I saw no pattern over the past 6 years and there was nothing on weekends. For reference, it's as follows (for Germany ETAs): 04/04/07: Wednesday 04/11/08: Friday 04/02/09: Thursday 03/23/10: Tuesday 04/04/11: Monday 03/26/12-03/28/12: Monday - Wednesday I checked for Full Grants as well. Again, no pattern and only on week days. Not sure about other countries though!

I'm also concerned! I was recently promoted to the permanent position for my job... and I am now getting paid insanely well and provided benefits. I know my employers would understand (seeing as I am a graduating senior and these things happen)... but still! I get nervous thinking about it.

BTW - thank you everyone for your feedback regarding ranking Bundesländer. This is a belated response on my part, but I read everyone's input and did end up ranking them a few weeks ago, in case anyone was wondering. (My FPA seemed so certain back in October, and I didn't know any better so it was intimidating at first!) I appreciate your responses!

So... since the deadline this year to send in Bundesländer preference was Feb. 1st, rather than Feb. 27th (with translated essays)... does this mean we could find out about final decisions earlier this year?! Wishful thinking, probably. O:)

Hi everyone! Germany ETA finalist/long time lurker here, first time posting. I haven't kept up with this post 100%, so forgive me if this has already been asked, but my FPA told me back in October that I should definitely NOT rank the Bundesländer, but rather leave it blank, because it will otherwise lower my chances. Has anyone else heard this? I read the e-mail today and it said that it would not affect the outcome, but I am still hesitant! Thoughts?
