Well there was only one interview weekend. I heard it would take a couple weeks to hear back, and so I guess this Monday will be the two week point. Fingers crossed! Thanks guys.

Hey everyone! Attended my top choice interview a couple weeks ago (Feb 1-3) and I was wondering a few things. First, do they normally send out post-interview acceptances/rejections all at the same time? I know pre-interview rejections sometimes arrive much later, so really I want to know if no news is just no news or if it is bad news? Also, anyone have a time frame for when they will send out the final email? How many weeks after the interview date? Generally, what day of the week/time of the day?

It seems E&E programs put more emphasis on this than others, but yes, it is recommended you find who you want to work with prior to applying. I interview with a bunch of people still though.

Dream program interview coming up... Nervous question: Is it possible for a professor to take two graduate students in the same year? He mentioned to me that he needed to fill 2 spots, and there are two prospective students for his lab invited to interview weekend (me and one other student I have yet to meet.) 17 people were invited to the weekend and usually they take around 8-10 students a year. Is it possible that his lab would be able to take two in the same year, or do you think they'll just let him take one this year and then again next year since such a small amount of students are able to be admitted? He JUST moved to the school from a previous professorship if that makes any difference. I just don't know if I should feel competitive or try to build a friendship with the other student since we may be working together for a long time.

So do places usually send out all the interviews at once, or is it kind of a rolling thing? Really, if I see others getting interview offers, is it safe to assume that I've been rejected?

I'm always stumped by the "Tell me about yourself" question. It's too broad, and I always feel like I give really lame answers. My name is ______, Im from ___________, I love science blah blah blah. Anyone have any suggestions about what they actually want me to talk about when they ask this?

No publications, switched focus one year into my honors project, don't know if that was a good idea.
