  1. How did you find that out about Texas A&M?

Through this forum. It's unofficial, but i'm sticking with it.

I contacted my PI and A&M's Psych department and all they told me was "our application process is over, please take other offers etc etc". Since then, no one has said anything about being admitted or wait listed or rejected from A&M.

  2. Officially accepted an offer. Here are the final numbers. 3 PhD acceptances, 2 Masters acceptances, 3 wait lists, 2 rejections, and 3 situations that were out of my control. Overall, not bad :D!

    Anyone else coming to Wayne?

    PhD:

    Wayne State University - Accepted/Accepted

    Florida International University - Accepted/Declined

    Central Michigan University - Accepted/Declined

University of Oklahoma - Wait List/Declined

Old Dominion University - Wait List/Declined

Wayne State University Business School - Wait List/Declined

Texas A&M - Rejected (Not Taking Students, Budgetary Reasons)

University of Georgia - Would have been accepted (PI Not Taking Students)

Auburn University - Would have been accepted (PI Not Taking Students)

University of Connecticut - Rejected (GRE Score /More Research)

University of South Florida - Rejected (GRE Score/GPA Score)

    Masters:

California State University: Long Beach - Accepted/Declined

San Diego State University - Accepted/Declined

  3. Hey guys, so...all of a sudden...in one day...i got bumped up form 3 wait lists.

Central Michigan University, Wayne State University, Old Dominion University, and i already had an offer from Florida International University.

Anyone out there that can help me complete my pros and cons list?

Apologies in advance if this is the wrong section to post this. If so, please steer me in the right direction.

  4. Yep, I am amongst the group that has accepted so far, I think almost everyone from the visitation weekend got an offer.  Really exciting.

I didn't receive an invite to the visitation, but i did receive an acceptance/offer, however, the acceptance letter says that they are still trying to "securing funding". Is this the same for you, or have you received a funding offer as well?

  5. I'm wondering if there is a difference between being wait listed and being on the "shortlist", anyone know the difference?

Short list means that the school has narrowed their choices down from the initial pool of applicants. For example, I got an interview from San Diego State University for the M.S. program. They had 80 some applicants and narrowed their selection down to the short list of 10 of which they interviewed and accepted 8.

Wait list comes in after the offers/acceptances have gone out. So if i wasn't part of those 8 from SDSU I would be on the wait list or rejected.

    Hope that clears it up.

  7. Hiya

Did you get an email from University of Georgia? Were you able to receive feedback from universities that rejected your application?

I emailed my POI and he told me.  Yes, I did receive feedback, what i wrote in red were what the schools said were deficient in my application.

  9. Is it safe to assume rejections from programs I have not heard from yet?

I would say no. Only because i just found out i have been on the wait list for a while now. An email i received said "we have sent out offers and rejections, but you did not receive either, you have been on the wait list etc. etc."

  10. Has anyone heard anything from Texas A&M?

THIS, 100x this.  A&M is my top pick, and it seems like they are taking their sweet time.  I heard someone got in contact with a POI a week ago and they still haven't started looking at the apps.  She was told to check back late March, early April.

  11. PhD:

Wayne State University - Wait List (Number 1 on list)

Central Michigan University - Wait List (Number 1 on list)

University of Georgia - No direct answer of acceptance/rejection/wait list

    Texas A&M

    University of Connecticut

    University of Oklahoma

Old Dominion University - Wait List (Number 1 on list)

University of South Florida - Rejected

    Florida International University

    Auburn University - Rejected

    Masters:

California State University Long Beach - Accepted

San Diego State University - Phone Interviewed, went well

  12. Thanks for the feedback everyone! I feel like it's starting to get late in the game, but it's helpful to know that some of you are in the same boat :-) Has anyone heard from Florida International?

I have heard nothing from FIU. Emailed the graduate coordinator and she said to wait until mid march...

  13. Well it depends... some of them may offer an in-state tuition waiver and a stipend, some may only include a stipend and no tuition waiver. Unlike PhD programmes where successful candidates are often assured a tuition waiver and stipend, in a Master's programme successful candidates may have to compete with each other to secure an assistantship. The best bet is it to enquire with the programme coordinator. Hope this helps!

It does! Thank you.  I have an interview with a masters program and I was under the impression that most of the time Masters program aren't funded. But, on their website it says this "Funding in the form of assistantships is available so that students can give their full attention to their graduate studies."  I'm assuming/hoping that's a good thing.
