  1. I have just been accepted into OU for the Mathematics PhD program. They offered me a stipend of 15K. I know that the cost of living over there in much lower than the nation's average. However, I'm just wondering if this is enough to support myself. I am coming from NJ and you will barely make rent on this salary. That's why I'm still at home lol...

Some math programs have the minimum at 650 and some don't have one at all. Not sure if the average of accepted students is much higher though. I'm emailing to find out. I just don't want to do the process over for nothing. Well, if I do well I can use the scores for next fall but I don't want that. I want to start school as soon as possible. Thanx for the advice guys.

Thanx for the replies guys. Actually, im embarrassed that i did that poorly on the quant. However, I'm not trying to get into a top program just a good one, around B average. If I had time, I would take it over. The programs I'm looking at my quant is good enough. I don't know??? If I don't get accepted anywhere I'm going to be pissed. I just don't do well on hard time constraints like the GRE.

I could probably take the test again in March for certain Universities but they are not my first choice. Everything on my application is great except for the GRE. I have a great GPA, LOR, SOP and I have overcome many educational disadvantages like bad urban schooling and coming from a low income family. In general, all things considered : what do you guys think?

I dont know? I graduated Rutgers-Newark with a 3.86/4 in applied mathematics. However, i did poorly on the GRE. I got a 147 v and 153 Q for a 300 total. What do u guys think? Should I get into a PhD program in Applied Mathematics or Mathematical Science? I'm applying to Binghamton and Drexel.
