  1. La la la, another Monday! And...another foot of snow to just do nothing but delay the mail. IT'S MARCH ALREADY! My husband tried to trick me saying that it would delay any emails as well because the snow would be laying on the cables, and my stressed out head almost believed it for a second. Let's hope for one bit of good news for everyone this week!
  2. Two of my universities sent results by this time last year, and Eau Claire said they would send results by mid February, and I have nothing! I give a few days for the snow, but I'm ready to have a breakdown! Also, it's March, why is it still snowing? And Jmarti, don't get too down yet! If I read right, you went to UNC? Your grades will be fine, remember you got them at a tough school! They told us here tgat they do look at that. I mean my overall gpa is a 3.65, but had I gone elsewhere it could have been different. Chin up, this isn't over! You sound like a very intelligent person who definitely shouldn't give up hope!
  3. Someone just posted that they received an assistantship to Marquette...so I guess that ship has sailed. Moving on...
  4. You just made my day, whew! I just treated myself to a latte and will cross everything for good funding, that would be a dream come true! Now just 6 more to hear from! And congrats to all!
  5. Thanks! I just have no idea where to find out if I got money...do universities usually send extra letters? Emails? Do they send them with the formal letter of admission? I have no idea where to begin!
  6. For those here for Marquette, anyone know how we find out if we got any funding? It's my second choice (I'm waitlisted at my first), but would need funding to go, but I'm super excited for an acceptance!
  7. Hey, we've got a lot of similar schools! I also thought about UT Austin, but I'm a bit geographically limited. I'm a post bacc though, and originally looked at them for linguistics. I'm also anxious to hear from UW schools, but they seem to take their time
  8. So no email from Marquette for you either? Someone else posted an acceptance but I still have nada
  9. My top choice was Madison...but that's now out, as I'm waitlisted. I highly doubt many get taken off the waitlist each year. My second choice would be Marquette, but only with lots of funding. :/ Otherwise anything else with in state tuition would be wonderful, just would be happy to be in
  10. I think we will hear from Marquette Monday, and I think I'll have two more schools sending stuff out this week, and I'm almost a nervous wreck. Worst is, I don't have to be anywhere unti 1 tomorrow, so I have the entire morning to sit with my email account, nothing to distract me like during the rest of the week :/ If however Marquette does do them by postal service for whatever reason, I'll at least get the letter super quick Any other Wisconsinites on here lurking around?
  11. I tried checking all over in the Checkmarq site, and I can't find anywhere where it lists an application status, nowhere does it say submitted, pending, etc. there is also no spot for it to say so, so I guess that's normal? Now just hoping they send out emails from Marquette tomorrow, and that funding is there! Making us wait through the weekend is just cruel, but if there's an acceptance with my name on it I'll get over it
  12. Marquette is confusing me too...why not send out acceptances yet? There was nothing in my mailbox today, and anything from Milwaukee would get to me very quickly...
  13. Someone posted an acceptance for Marquette...and I still have no email?! What if they forgot me? Now I downloaded Angry Birds to help take out frustration!
  14. I have this insane fear that if I call and ask just out of curiosity (and not with a real concern) that I would immediately be put on the rejection list due to overannoyance of the staff, it's what keeps me being patient.
  15. Another university I applied to also sent snail mail letters last year (according to the results page) but sent acceptance and waitlist emails this year (then sent a letter with the same email). So maybe they'll vary it this year? If not, I'm watching my mailbox! My parents are on strict orders to open all of my mail that might come there. Since I'm a post-bacc applicant I've been out of the house a few years but put them down as my permanent address just to be safe. However, my mom has gone on a kick where she flat out insists on not opening my mail (hardly any of my mail goes to their house), but forwarding it to me. Maybe waitlist and acceptances are on letters and rejections by email? Maybe they just want to mess with our minds! (It's working...)
  16. I managed to check my Emarq, but nothing there either. I'm trying to figure out if it's a good thing that we haven't heard yet or not. I haven't visited the program, but I'm from Milwaukee so I've seen the campus a bit. However, while Marquette is very high on my list, I would need good funding :/ I hate this not knowing what's up!
  17. For those hearing from Marquette, did they send it to your personal email or via their site or your Marquette email?
  18. I was sitting in class today and I heard two girls complaining that the UW Madison letters were taking so long...I felt so horrible since I'm fairly certain all the acceptance and waitlist emails went out, and only rejections are left For only having 28 days, February sure is a long month...
  19. I actually became so impatient that I pulled out the February 2012 calendar on my computer and compared the notification dates from last year to now, looking at which week of February they came out compared to today's date. Didn't really get much out of it though.
  20. I just peeked at the rankings today, had no idea Iowa was number one! However, I have family in Iowa and it's not too far from home, so I applied there, though I can only go if I get funding. And Wisconsin's my alma mater and post bacc school, so applying (and immediately becoming waitlisted) was natural. Though I will laugh if I get into Iowa and waitlisted at WI
  21. My school doesn't use them either, just A, AB, B, BC, etc. However, an A is a 94% and above, and I feel like not all schools do that, and I feel like that takes down my GPA. Say if I get a 92 in a class, that's an AB (worth 3.5), whereas anywhere else that would be an A. Although a professor on our admissions boards did say that they also slightly consider where you got said grade, meaning that if you get say a 3.8 from a very tough institution, vs a 4.0 from a not so tough institution, that they do take that into account when looking at GPAs and qualifications. Oh well I guess. Now if only we would get letters. I mean these people can't have anything better to do on a Saturday night as decide these things...right? (Note the sarcasm )
  22. I also freaked out when I read about the postal service cancelling Saturday mail, but apparently that won't start until August, so we're in the clear
  23. Thanks, maybe I will. I mean in the end it doesn't matter too much, which is why I was hoping someone knew before I bothered the poor director (who is likely doing nothing with her day than answering nervous students...). Maybe I will ask her. The letter said that they would have everyone let them know by April 15th and then admit a few from the waitlist, but they've also said other things that they've done slightly differently. My poor nerves and this waiting game...my poor inbox. My poor mailbox. I'm glad my mail arrives while I'm normally in class or at work, otherwise the poor mailman would have to deal with me waiting for him at the mailbox each day!
  24. Does anyone know how schools typically deal with waitlists? Do they typically take people off as openings arise, or wait until their April 15th deadline to revisit the waitlist and see who to admit? Anyone know that of Wisconsin schools specifically? I was waitlisted at my top choice and while I realize the chances of being taken off of it are extremely slim, I'm still so impatient! I can't bear the thought of waiting until April for what is basically my delayed rejection... I'm trying to take it as a sign that I'm just meant to see another area, as I did my undergrad there too as well. I guess if anyone has questions about WI they can ask!
  25. Anyone get an email from Michigan State telling them "Your graduate application account for the Masters in CSD has been created. You may return to edit your application before submitting it for review by following this link:" It took me to my GIMS and is asking for all of the things I had already uploaded earlier. I know they had had trouble linking my GIMS earlier due to a weird glitch, so maybe it's because of that or did anyone else get something?
