not sure if this is useful to any wait-listed folks, but in case it is...
Today I declined offers from Boston College, Wisconsin, and Irvine.
(I had already declined Pittsburgh & CUNY.)
Any advice for finding out the dates of the NYU open house? I don't know whether or not I'll get in, but if I do, I really want to attend — but I have to buy flights for other schools' open houses. The late acceptance date is making planning challenging. Certainly, there are worse problems to have. But if anyone has suggestions about finding out open house dates, I'm all ears. Thanks!
Re: Columbia and NYU, I've heard nothing from either.
Re: Wisconsin, I got admission letter yesterday. FYI, it says that starting this year they are admitting far fewer students because they're only admitting as many as they can guarantee full funding for five years.
It's a good warning, and I've heard some of the same. On the other hand, I have several friends at CUNY (mostly in the anthropology department, but a few in sociology) who love it, and they've all been able to secure funding for their research — but mostly through outside funding channels, and they had to hustle first year. There are some amazing social movement professors there too, which is important to me. We'll see though. I have a good offer from UCSB that I'll probably have to take over CUNY.
yeah, looks like a lot of folks got into CUNY today. Congratulations!
If any of you who got in have an opinion about whether or not everyone heard at once, I'm all ears. CUNY is one of my top picks and it's not looking good, I suppose. I have some good options, but my partner and I are hoping to live in NYC if it works out.
