  1. Thank you! And thank you to everyone who took the time to send me a note of encouragement. Quality group of artists around here. The reason I applied to only one school is because I am married with a one year old. My parents live near by and the only way I can hack an MFA right now is by having the help of family. It's a curse and a blessing. My husband was accepted to UCLA for a PhD program, so in a way I'm glad that I didn't have to make the choice of leaving behind an opportunity. It is still a desire of mine to get an MFA. Maybe if you pop in here years from now you'll see my posting in the MFA 2015 FREAK OUT FORUM!. (: Cheers to all.
  2. Welp, I was rejected from the one and only school I applied to: UC DAVIS This will be my final post. Good luck to everyone and God bless your future in art.
  3. Since others find it more helpful to rephrase your question than actually answer it, I shall attempt, since I did my undergrad at UCSB. When I was there, the graduate students (who were also my TA's) were making pretty decent art in a wide variety of mediums. However, it is a University and is very theory based. So, unless you have taken a class on semiotics and are up to snuff on your art critique, it will be hard to understand what the heck they're trying to say with their art. The quality of the art created was completely dependent on the quality of artist. It seemed to me that there was a lot of freedom in the program. And like another post said, wonderful large studios. And the art department overlooks the ocean. Okay, now I'm depressed that I moved away.
  4. go banana slugs. ideally, my husband and i would both get into davis (we would love to stay north). but he's already been accepted into ucla for a phd in engineering (yeah, i married one of those), so we'll see!
  5. I bet you make happy art. (:
  6. lurker, here. have enjoyed the lively discourse on this forum. i'm only applying to one school; UC Davis. i honestly don't expect to get in, because my art is fairly 'normal' for contemporary art (think portraiture and landscape). but, hope springs eternal and i love being involved in an active art community. there you have it! good luck to all!
