I'm in for a dinner or after-dinner get-together. Have booked my flight, arrive at 5:00pm at DCA. Definitely looking forward to it! @gzahn: I'm pretty sure I read somewhere in the info that we've been sent that we can drop off our bags at the hotel if we arrive before check-in so you should be fine. ...I decided to see if I could find it. It was in the very long email telling us to book our flights: "Hotel check-in time is 3:00 pm and check-out is 12:00 pm. If you arrive too early to check-in, you can leave your bag in the storage room. "

@gzahn Good to hear that you got accepted in the end. Congratulations!! I haven't done EAPSI before or been to NIAES, but I did live in Japan for a couple of years if you have any general questions about living in Japan, etc.

@Papasan&Coffee and @anyone-else-who-accepted-and-is-waiting-for-a-response: I finally got a confirmation that my email was received. This is not further information, but simply a confirmation that my email was received since I requested a confirmation in my original email which was sent on Feb 13th. So I think the answer is: yes, they are pretty swamped. We will just have to wait patiently for our replies. Not super useful info, but I thought it might put someone's mind at ease to know that even if you haven't heard back it probably doesn't mean that they didn't get your email.

@Papasan&Coffee: I also replied right away and even requested confirmation that my response was received, but have had no contact back. I expect they are just too busy sending out offers and everything else to contact us. But it's good to hear that there's someone else in the same situation.

And my status also still says "Pending" by the way.

@gzahn: Keep us posted if you get a response. Good luck. From looking at the previous year's message board it seems like some of the offers (even from the same country) came out in waves with some people getting offers for Japan much later than others. Perhaps they will still give you an offer so don't lose hope. @hokievt2010: Congrats! Perhaps we'll see each other over there.

I have also just received my tentative offer for Japan at about 4pm today.

I have also applied for the NSF EAPSI for 2013 and am waiting to hear. I applied for Japan. It is nice to find this forum where we can all wait in anticipation together.
