  1. Unfortunately, this is not the case. A lab mate of mine has received her official offer and already accepted it (Counselling Psychology). It could be POI dependent, but offers have been made in some cases :(

I might just be grasping at straws here... but was this MA or MEd?

  2. That's amazing!! Congratulations to you/your friend who got accepted. The SCCP program at U of T has always been my dream program.. Oh well. Do you know if that someone had an interview before getting accepted?

I THINK they didnt.. not completely sure though.. another friend (excellent gpa and application in general) hasn't heard either.. I'm on the same boat with their couseling program

  3. Hey guys, I heard from OISE Counselling at the beginning of March. They want answeres quickly so hopefully you guys will hear something second round!

OISE has not sent ANY acceptances or rejections for its counselling psychology program!

    http://www.oise.utoronto.ca/ro/Graduate_Admissions/Application_Submitted/Notification_of_Results.html

No one on any of the forums has heard anything, but we should in the next couple weeks.

Read quoted above.. apparently they did get accepted into counseling at oise... oise's website just says not to consider anything official unless you get it by mail.. but they probably got it by phone.

  4. I totally agree! I'm going crazy waiting for a response from OISE (MA School and Clinical Child Psychology). I emailed the Programs and Admissions Coordinator almost a week ago but it's been silence ever since. Does anyone know if they usually call or send an email to let you know their decision before sending out letters through snail mail for masters applicants? If I haven't heard from my POI by this point, should I just be expecting the dreaded small white envelope in my mailbox?

Most likely.. i know someone who got accepted weeks ago

  5. I contacted my POI, I'm on the wait list as she has already made another offer to a student. I'm guessing that means first round offers have been made? Unless its POI dependent.

Hey could yo pm me your poi?

    Thanks!

  6. Has anyone heard anything from the MA in Counselling Psychology at Western? They posted on the website that interviews would be held the week of March 18-22 and you would be contacted one week prior if you got an interview. I haven't heard anything yet.

They already sent out a round of acceptances and rejections. You might be in that mid-group (probably waiting until others accept / reject to see if they offer you an interview)

  7. I know someone who got accepted to Calgary last week. However, I have other friends who still have heard nothing. I think it's POI dependant.

I just spoke to them. They sent out their first round of acceptances and rejections.. to those who haven't heard anything, we're up in the air.. depending on the applicants who got an acceptance, we may get an interview if they don't take it. there is no deadline for this.

  8. I've sent out some of those emails. Most don't respond. Others told me:

    Funding is limited

My GREs are preventing me from getting any serious consideration (apparently most clinical applicants who make it at that school are above 80th and 90th percentile)

They didn't think it would be a good match, even though they considered my application one of the strongest (this is another school, i'm guessing they didnt emphasize the GRE as much.. I didnt do poorly on it, just didnt get above 80th)

  9. Several individuals I know have received rejections and acceptances from:

    1. Waterloo, Saskatchewan, SFU, York, Calgary

    Interviews:

    1. Saskatchewan, Western Ontario, SFU, Ryerson, Calgary

FYI some of these are based on funding/profs so don't apply to everyone

What did you hear about Calgary? I haven't gotten contacted for an interview yet.. but no rejection either.

  10. I don't think you're out just yet if you didn't attend the recruitment weekend. A number of the recruits had received a lot of other offers (many of them were from the states and had been accepted into awesome programs there). UBC POIs are waiting to see which other universities their prospective grad students get into in order to determine whether they will need to make offers to other students.

My POI there told me to let him know the second I decided whether or not I'd be attending so he could find another student ASAP.

Thanks for the news. will you be accepting it?

  11. :|

i interviewed at UBC like 3 weeks ago and figured i'd hear back soon. youre telling me it could be another month??!

    Sounds like it :(

I was invited to interview early this month but wasn't able to make it. It may be PI-dependent, though!

so if we werent invited to that thing early in the month we're out of the competition?

  12. Could the person who was accepted to Ryerson's Clinical Psych program PM me with your POI (if you don't mind)? I'm starting to get antsy!

I'd also really like to know. could you pm me please?

ryerson will be admitting people through mid march

  13. Deep inside, i'm hoping that this news about uOttawa is wrong. I really don't want to move out of the city, but if I have to then I will. Here's to maybe hearing from a prof this week??? :S

I received two rejection emails from Waterloo and Queens.

I wish you luck.. I haven't gotten a rejection from waterloo yet.. but I am expecting it.. the only reason why I wouldnt would be if someone decides to reject their acceptance.. and then they hold more interviews.

  14. Bummer about Ottawa then.

I'm having a difficult time gauging what's going on at Canadian schools based on the results section- it seems like there aren't very many Canadian applicants posting acceptances/rejections.

Has anyone heard from Waterloo's clinical program? One entry in the results says that they were rejected "and if you haven't received an admit yet you probably won't"- but there's only three postings about Clinical psych on there... I've e-mailed my POI and I'm waiting to hear back. In the mean time, if you've heard from Waterloo please let me know.

  15. I know the suspense is really bugging me. I hate discrepancies (well maybe I don't hate them, but in this case, it is making me super nervous.

    I'm seconding this sentiment.

Anyone with info that could help to illuminate the reason for this discrepancy..?

Also torontoclinical, I also applied to McGill and haven't heard anything back yet.

    so which one is it???

I meant to say someone was invited for an interview. sorry about the stress it may have caused you.

I applied to mcgill clinical and havent heard a word.

  16. Hey guys,

Just wondering about those of you who applied to any clinical programs in canada. where have you applied? have you heard back from anyone? what do you know!?

    I applied to

    Ryerson

    Waterloo

    McGill

    UBC
    Calgary

    Western

interviewed with the first 2. I know Western  already had interview day.. UBC and calgary are still looking at my app. No word on Mcgill

  17. In our program nationality doesn't make a difference; we accept Americans (and other international students) and they're funded so it ends up as the same level as domestic students. The more unfortunate issue (for you) is that you can't apply for the significant external scholarships like SSHRC, NSERC, CIHR, and OGS. At my school that means you're 'stuck' with the internal funding ($22-25k/year - $7k tuition) instead of having access to the big bucks.

You are right in that you can't apply to SSHRC, NSERC and CIHR.. but internationals can apply to OGS.. and SHOULD!
