  1. I've been gone from the forum for a bit, but has anyone heard back from the financial aid office? I'm super excited about receiving that crimson packet in the mail, but growing increasingly nervous about finances and debt. I am feeling a bit guilty about possibly turning down my paid Ph.D program offer soon to go into debt, haha.
  2. Thanks a bunch!
  3. Does anyone know around how much the HUH apts are?
  4. Cheap hotels- probably one of the Holiday Inns?
  5. I agree with Huron Village and Inman Square. Depends on where in Huron Village though, some of the places there are ridiculously expensive houses. Somerville is also significantly cheaper and better for pets, but it might be harder to get to via public transportation. As for Allston- It's really cheap compared to Cambridge and it's probably going to be more spacious, but I'm not so keen on living in that area. All of my friends that have an apt there either have roaches, or mice, and there are some areas of it that are really seedy. Then again, there might be awesome pest free apartments there that we just haven't found yet? It's REALLY hard to find parking around Cambridge, especially around Harvard Square. But I'm hoping that we can get Harvard permits or something? I went to the Coop the other day to get a sweatshirt but then decided to wait on it, since they're so expensive!
  6. Aw man, I was hoping to meet you Edugy. It seems like we had a lot of similar interests. I applied to MBE, did fMRI stuff in the past. Those links are really interesting. I am actually really interested in HCI stuff as well.
  7. Best of luck to those who didn't get in. I'm sure you guys will go off to do amazing things- Harvard or no Harvard!
  8. holy $%$# holy #$$%# holy #$%#@ I GOT IN.
  9. I took a nap and now I've missed out on everything! I got a letter too but I'm too afraid to go look at it D:
  10. Blarg, I'm looking over the price tag of the program again and it seems less doable. I wonder if I should just take my paid program as well. By the way- seeing as it's almost 4pm and they'll probably leave work at 5, it looks like we're back to the drawing board on Monday.
  11. Have fun and good luck!!! I hope that you come back to excellent news!
  12. Oh, also 10 posts late but I didn't get a chance to reply last night. CQE, that Ball So Hard parody is genius.
  13. Yeah, a lot of people from my office just took the day off. lol when I first saw it, I thought as well, so much snow! ...better report to gradcafe. It's probably going to be next week ...But maybe we'll get a pleasant surprise?
  14. Oh, no I meant those CMEI Colloquium/Gutman Library Distinguished Auther Series Events emails from admissions where they're like "Given your interest in graduate study at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, we would like to invite you to attend ____(lecture series name)__..." Perhaps it's just sent to people who are local in the area?
  15. Also is anyone else getting those upcoming HGSE talk invites? Is anyone going? Every time I've gotten a notification about that I've thought it was the decision and freaked out. Why Harvard, why?!
  16. Hey, just found this year's thread. Gaaah I can't wait any longer! I predict it'll be next Tuesday as well. Hopefully I'll be wrong and it'll be earlier?
  17. Unfortunately, there is so little information about Tufts' psychology department on these forums. I emailed the program director to ask about the waitlist acceptances for previous years but haven't received a reply yet. Just curious, have you been in touch with your POI? Good luck!
  18. Haven't heard much about Tufts' psych program this year, so I've decided to start a thread. Is anyone else out there on the Tufts waitlist this year? And if you've been accepted, congrats!
  19. Remember to talk about your interests, and try to find a way to connect it with your POI's work. Ask good questions about your POI's research. Be prepared to talk about your current work and future goals. Know the program and as much as possible about your POI's current and past research. Be prepared to talk to a lot of different people. Good luck!
  20. Oops. Sorry guys, I accidentally downvoted JJJJ22's post and there doesn't seem to be a way to undo it.
