  1. briecheese, what's your take on both cal arts and cca? i feel for me what's weighing cca down is that i don't know of any recognizable alumni? does anyone?
  2. hallelujah! finally got notifications from all schools. final tally: cal arts: accepted cca: accepted tyler: top of the waitlist hunter: rejected vcu: rejected i'm 90% sure i'm going to cal arts. waiting on financial aid letter to see what's up. briecheese, will you be going to cca or cal arts?
  3. just spoke to the chair of painting at vcu. she said that they have already interviewed their candidates, so i guess everyone else who didn't interview it's rejection for us. still haven't heard from tyler after interview.
  4. HOLY FUCK! JUST GOT ACCEPTED TO CAL ARTS!!!! interview day was amazing! they have an outdoor pool and i went swimming in it during reception with a friend that goes to the music school and some other new friends, then attended an amazing performance lecture by michelle dizon. and gallery openings until 11pm. the school is open 24/7, the campus is gorgeous with its 360 degree view of mountains, and perfect view of the sunrise. and the best part is the everyone there is SO SMART! anyone else got in?
  5. briecheese, i got accepted to cca last week. and i'll be attending interview day at cal arts tomorrow. will you?
  6. hi clem, yeah, i interviewed for painting. did you?
  7. yes, for mfa. i don't know how they found out, though.
  8. interesting, i know someone who was already notified by parsons with an acceptance offer.
  9. just called cca. said they'll be sending notifications to interviewees mid-march. and tyler will be sending the same more towards the end of march. argh!!!!
  10. also, rejection from hunter for works on paper. i guess it makes sense since i submitted work that wasn't all on paper. ugh. sucks they're not very into interdisciplinary applicants. i've already interviewed with cca over the phone in mid-feb and with tyler on saturday, and will interview at cal arts next week. has anyone who interviewed with cca or tyler heard back? for some reason, i'm feeling this won't be the year for me. but at least this process has made me aware of other great programs i did not know about. at tyler i was asked why not bard or m.i.t., and i knew i didn't want to go to bard because i want a fully immersive program, and i really didn't know about m.i.t. but i figured the program is way more technology oriented than i am in my practice right now. maybe the committee at tyler thought i wouldn't fit in their program. which hysterically is what my work is partly about -- fit. this process has been real informative for a first time applicant and it's been really helpful to have this board to come to.
  11. has anyone applying for works on paper heard from hunter?
  12. i think what you are looking for is metamodernism. i just read a really interesting article about it here: http://artpulsemagazine.com/beyond-postmodernism-putting-a-face-on-metamodernism-without-the-easy-cliches
  13. new member here. has anyone heard from VCU or Hunter? good luck to everyone!
