2013 SLP Admissions Thread!
sroberts86 replied to midnight's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I've definitely been stressing over finances .. MGH didn't mention any scholarships so I assume I didn't get any there. Right now MGH is my top choice as I live in Boston already, but if UVM comes at me with something great financially, it would be hard to turn away. I also would love to get back to Vermont at some point If I wind up going that way, I'll be sure to check in with you to see what you've decided! -

Congrats!! I applied to UVM as well and haven't heard anything yet I am from VT originally, and LOVE Burlington -- if you go it'll be a super fun place to live with great people! Do you mind me asking if they mentioned anything about further notices? Congrats again!! -

I have seen a few comments from people about CSDCAS applications getting stuck in the system. Have folks been reaching out to admissions teams at their school designations directly or only contacting CSDCAS? I'm nervous that schools haven't received my full application but I don't want to push it with those responsible for deciding my future! -

Ohmygosshhhh I'm freaking out today!! I recognize that there is nothing I can do at this point but I've just got such bad feelings since my first notification from NYU . Anyone apply to UVM and hear anything, or know anything about their stats? They seem pretty private about acceptance rates! -

Thank you for sending this across I haven't gone back to see the stats, but it's definitely helpful. And really, at this point there is nothing more I can do so hopefully what I've done will be enough for at least one of the schools! -

Well your stats are super great -- wouldn't be surprised if it all turns out in your favor Thanks for the boost. It's so hard to keep it together when the first things you hear are rejections! -

I really hope you're right I visited MGH during the application process and sat in on a class, and met with a professor. I have no idea if that kind of stuff helps, but hopefully in some way it will. I noticed you applied to CU-Boulder. That one was on my list actually but I didn't end up applying. Let me know if you go there and what you think -- if I have to do this process again I may consider adding it in this time! -

I think a poor quant score is a silly thing to reject someone over as well ... though if you have 700 applications for 30 spots, I guess you need some sort of way of weeding through them all .. My GRE score was: 147Q/154V/5.0Essay -

I did in fact hear from NYU on Friday. It was a very brief email, nothing in the mail. I bet you get something exciting in the mailbox this week! I imagine acceptance letters come in a more sophisticated way... I am holding out for Columbia right now ... though I did submit my terrible GRE score accidentally when I didn't know they did not require them .. grr!! Have you heard anything about the difficulty of getting in there? -

Hi Everyone! Just posted on the older thread so thought I'd come to this one and send out a new message. I applied to: MGH Emerson BU Northeastern UVM Columbia NYU I've heard back from BU (didn't get the first interview so assuming I didn't get into that one), and I was rejected from NYU I am most certain that my GRE score is what did me in. I am really hoping that one of the other remaining schools can see past my dismal Quant score!! Everything else on my GRE was decent, but my overall score was 301. Anyone else ready to pull their hair out and full of anxiety?! -

Just received my first rejection - NYU I'm quite certain my GRE score is going to hold me back from most places I applied, but the unfortunate thing is that I didn't have time to retake the exam if I wanted to meet the Jan 1st app deadline. Anyone else hearing from SLP programs yet? Has anyone been accepted to a program with mediocre GRE scores? Totally stressing ....
