For all the Egypt ETAs still waiting, I contacted Jermaine Jones and he said that they are waiting on security clearances from the Egyptian government. He sounded like they were also very frustrated and would send them out as soon as possible. This was on Thursday, which is the end of the Egyptian week, so I'm guessing they would be able to send them out this week, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't send them until next week. So frustrating! He also told me that there is an orientation before the regular orientation that will be on the 22nd and 23rd, so if you are planning your summer keep that in mind. Hope that is helpful! It's good to know that there are people waiting with me...let me know if you hear anything!

So I emailed Jermaine Jones about Egypt and he said:
"The hard copy notification letters have not yet been sent out for you or any of the other recommended applicants for Egypt. My sense is that we may be in the final stages of the selection process, though, so I hope to be able to produce and issue these letters in the not-too-distant future (although I have no way of guaranteeing that at this stage

This wait is seriously getting ridiculous...
This is the latest I heard from Jermaine (a few days ago) and it kind of sounds like its not going to happen real soon. I emailed back with a bunch of questions (it would be nice to know an approximate time it would start if we do get it or when the orientation would be) but I haven't heard back yet.
"Unfortunately, final decisions are still pending on you and all of the
other finalists for ETA awards to Egypt for the 2009/2010 academic year.
(More specifically, we are still waiting on Egyptian government
approval.)
I had originally thought that this would have come through by now, but
that clearly hasn't been the case. Furthermore, I have no idea when it
will at this stage, so can only hope that you'll be able to hold out for
the news about your candidacy to finally come through. (I really do hope
that this will be in the not-too-distant future.)"
