  1. Hi, I was initially interested in applying to the Western MPh program. As you probably know, fall 2013 will be their first class ever. I spoke to Diane Lee, who gave me a lot of information about the program...Unlike most MPH programs in the country, Western's program is only one year. It is a general program (ie. no streams to choose from) and is HIGHLY, HIGHLY based on a case method of learning. From what Diane told me, accepted students wil be divided into different learning groups. During the week, mornings will be spent in class and the afternoons will be spent on discussion of a case study that was assigned the previous day. You will work very closely witih your learning group and each group is actually given their own office which they can "personalize." All MPH classes will be held in one building, which will include a lounge area and the learning group offices...The deal breaker for me here was the price tag. The tuition for this one year program is approximately $27, 000 (!!) I would have had to move out to London to attend, so there was no way that was happening. Diane spoke a lot about neat field trips they were hoping to take during the year and several opportunities for international practicums. They were looking to take around 30 students. Hope this helps.
  2. Hi, I am currently on the wait list for Guelph's MPH. They received 250 applications for fall 2013 and are in the process of sending out their first round of offers. I received this information by emailing the department and simply asking about the status of my application. Initially I contacted Trudi the grad secretary, but she is out of office and all MPH application questions are to be directed to Rebecca Knaggs at rknaggs@uoguelph.ca . She was very kind and quick to reply (same morning). If you are in a time crunch like I am (Lakehead is expecting an answer by Monday) go ahead and shoot her a message to know where you're at. Good luck.
  3. Lakehead sends out their decisions by email. To both your Lakehead and personal emails.
  4. Hey, If you had uploaded an "unofficial" trasncript, this is what the committee will look at first. This is what I was told by the grad office. I believe they can make decisions based on your unofficial marks, and once they have received the official transcript then they can process your app and offer you admission. I don't think you should be too woried about the timeline because Lakehead does do rolling admissions. Although they say the deadline is Feb 1st, they still take applications after this date. Only thing is that you may not be considered for funding/entrance scholarship. Also, my official offer letter from Lakehead came yesterday. After about a month of receiving recommendation from the committee. Hope this helps.
  5. From what I'm aware, they do make decisions based on the unofficial transcripts they receive and if you are recommended for admission they give the ok to the grad office which processes the letter. It seems to be taking a while. Good luck, hope everything works out!
  6. My Lakehead online application status was changed to "admitted" on March 1st. I've yet to receive the official offer letter.
  7. I also dropped off my app in person on Friday. I got an email today from the graduate secretary confirming that it was received.
  8. Hi Guys, I received an email from Lakehead on Monday evening stating that I was recommended for admission into their MPH program. The official offer of admission will be processed and mailed within 4-6 weeks. Anyone else apply to Lakehead University?
