  1. anyone hear anything from the yale waitlist for painting?
  2. Thanks Sseu. Even considering it's double the price? I just don't see a lot of MICA grads doing much here in NY either, I'm not sure what the advantages of the program are when the price tag is so high. Definitely loved the facilities and people there, but Tyler was pretty great too, at this point i'm confused because I'm not sure what the difference will be as far as working, showing, and teaching post grad-school. Would love to hear from NY people and tyler and mica grads.
  3. MICA hoffberger at 70K for the whole thing or Tyler for 40K? what do you guys think? not too excited about the financial ramifications of this whole thing, but happy to get into some great programs. also considering reapplying next year to less expensive places, but I'm 30 already so not feeling like I have all the time in the world.
  4. VCU. Go where the good design program and teachers are. Notre Dame isn't a big enough name to override those things.
  5. no those are the figures for both years combined. 70k a year would be beyond ludicrous.
  6. MICA vs. Tyler thoughts? MICA is definitely more expensive in my case (about double- 35K for tyler vs around 70K for MICA) also who are the painters out there going to these spots in the fall? thanks
  7. Got into tyler wooooo bam! who on here is going there?
  8. waitlisted at yale hmmmmmmm any painters get into yale and going somewhere else? Or anyone ever gotten off the waitlist at yale? I didn't apply to RISD or Columbia or UCLA or hunter, i figure yale at least has good competition from those places. Still waiting to hear from NYU and Tyler, both wonderful programs, but feelin' pretty nervous and disappointed now.
  9. Anyone heard from Tyler or NYU or MassArt after being interviewed? Painters that is...
  10. Thanks erpnope, all good things. Appreciate you taking the time to write that out. Would love to see your work, are you applying for MFA programs this year? It seems like people in baltimore actually care, whereas in Providence the corruption in city government, combined with the pull of NYC, makes whatever goes on there kind of irrelevant. Have heard good things about nudashank, definitely need to check them out.
  11. that's great to hear erpnope, thanks for the heads up. The art scene in BK is accessible too, been making good things happen here, which is why I'm hesitant. I got a good vibe from Baltimore too, I was in providence for a while and I felt like things were really stagnant there.
  12. I was accepted at Mt. Royal and waitlisted at Hoffberger, so I'm not sure. I'm a painter so it would be a tough choice. Haven't really checked out too much of the work coming from Mt. Royal but I've heard great things. I'm a little hesitant about baltimore, but my options to stay in NYC are not many at this point. I think there's a really good chance I'll end up in maryland, my two best friends from college are from there, that town seems to want to suck me in. Had an interview at NYU, but a little nervous about how little is talked about that program, would love to know peoples' thoughts on that.
  13. wow that's amazing. I wasn't offered nearly that much. I would go hands down if that was the case for me. We'll see if I get in anywhere else. How are you liking it?
  14. Thanks! Got a phone call. Really impressed by how professional and fair they are about everything at MICA. The mid atlantic is a whole other world from the northeast as far as public relations go. An expensive school, but one that I think is quickly getting better and better. Got one or two things I'm waiting on, but good chance I'll take their offer, everyone is so nice, and feel wonderful that they like my work.
  15. Accepted at MICA mt. royal and waitlisted at hoffberger! woooooo having a much better day now
  16. Oh word, thanks. who knows, keepin my fingers crossed I guess, it sucks to not have anything locked down. would be cool to be in the same program, I dig your paintings a lot too. Having been working as an artist in NYC for a while, I know I wouldn't turn down full funding and a stipend though, I have a lot of incredibly talented friends and none of them got a deal like that. You should feel really proud. Can't tell you how many RISD and yale grads I know in NYC who are struggling with debt and don't have decent paying jobs. Where are you working out of now?
  17. gweaver, how did you hear from tyler yesterday? phone call? did they sound like they had made all their decisions? Pretty much the only viable option I had left, bummed not to have heard yesterday too. great school, congrats on that.
  18. What's up with UCLA, any painters hear back?
  19. I received a formal rejection letter from VCU. I'm assuming rejection from Hunter and Columbia since I haven't heard back.
  20. Have any painters heard from Hunter or Columbia or UCLA? All these interviews and rejections are gonna give me an ulcer. MICA Mt. 21. Hey Bengston I dig your work, I got rejected from Bard and Rutgers too, Stephen Westfall is the main guy at both I think, guess he wasn't feeling our work.
