  1. Hi mh6. My GPA was a 91% (last 10 courses) and I have been volunteering with Vancouver Coastal Health for the last 3 years. My work experience involved working in community health at local community centres and working at a private health care center involved with integrative medicine. Not that much research aside from some research papers in my undergrad which focused on preventative medicine and reducing cardiovascular disease. I applied last year and didn't get in. This year I think I focused on some specific goals that I hope to accomplish through the program and improved my resume in these areas. My undergrad was in Kinesiology. Hope that helps!
  2. Hi everyone, I also received an email from UBC MPH yesterday offering admission. Was surprised how soon it came and how quickly we have to decide! I am also waiting on some other programs but I believe I am going to accept as it is my top choice.
  3. I didn't mean to scare! From what I heard, they don't base that much on GPA...more so on experiences. I know some who got in with lower GPA's simply due to their practical work and research. My background is more in community health and so my research experience is extremely limited. The 91% was for my last 10 courses....my last 30 is lower!
  4. I am applying for the second time around to UBC MPH, UofA Health Promotion and UofT Health Promotion. SubGPA is around a 91% but I think I missed the boat last year with a lack of experience so took the year to improve this! I got my undergrad from UBC with a BKIN. Hopeful that this time will be better!
  5. I just got an email back stating that all decisions were mailed out late last week so we should be getting something in the mail this week. I'm assuming if your status says "under review" it probably means waitlisted....
  6. My U of T application (Epi) says Decision Made but I have not received anything via mail/email. I'm assuming this is not a good sign but would still like to contact admissions to find out for sure. Anyone know who the best to contact would be?
  7. Rejection letter from UBC as well. Clearly a tough year to get in. Anyone heard from U of T epi yet? I'm assuming U of A will be later in the month
  8. So glad to stumble across this forum! I have applied for U of A, UBC and U of T for the 2013 fall semester and am anxiously awaiting to see if I will be accepted to any. I have a bit of experience in public health but mostly through physical activity/sport since I am a BKIN grad from UBC. I feel as though my GPA is borderline so I am not sure if I fit into what the programs are looking for. Please keep posting acceptance posts!! AH so nerveracking. Anyone else applying from a Kinesiology background?
