  1. Hi everyone, For those on waiting lists, I recently declined my offers from U of A and Queen's. Also, I was reading some earlier posts and just thought I'd weigh in on the issue about class size. I have completed a Master's in Journalism, as well as a Master's in Science. Both programs had roughly 50 people, and there was plenty of interaction! I don't feel I missed out on a graduate experience. Many assignments required working in much smaller groups, and elective courses would have 10-20 people in them. I actually got to know everyone in both my classes pretty well! In the end, it's up to you and what you take from your experiences
  2. Ok thanks...good to know!
  3. I may try to defer or re-apply next year. I interviewed for an amazing job at a unique HIV clinic here in Winnipeg. The job is under the Health Promotion/Outreach program at the clinic, so I'm not sure I could say no to the job if I got it! I will find out in less than 2 weeks
  4. Hey guys, Hang in there. I have a feeling a number of people who got into U of A will be declining (I might). We had to confirm that we wanted our recommendation forwarded to Graduate Studies by April 5th. After this, they still have to forward the formal offer and wait for people to formally accept or decline. I'm pretty sure more seats will open up in the weeks to come...
  5. Any idea why she's choosing Queens over U of T?
  6. I wish I could go...but I'm in Winnipeg at the moment!
  7. Random question...did everyone who applied to U of T in either Epi or HP get an invite to the open house?
  8. Thanks! And ha! Perhaps I should do some remedial math if I decide on Queen's. Also, health nuts, did you do the health promotion courses with Dr. Irwin? Your description of her 400 level course sounds very familiar! She's a great prof.
  9. Hey! Thanks for the response. I completed the requirements during my undergrad, but it was a few years ago now. Queen's accepted me, but in their acceptance letter, they mentioned the quantitative nature of 2 of their courses and said to contact them with any concerns- I was just wondering if everyone who was accepted to Queen's got the same letter...
  10. Hey everyone, I'm just wondering- for those who got accepted to Queen's- did your acceptance letter also talk about the quantitative component of the program? I'm just wondering if that comment was specific to me as I haven't done stats/math since undergrad, circa 2007...and maybe the admissions committee thought they should bring that to my attention? Thanks!
  11. Hmm...I think I will wait it out until April 4th and then decide what I need to do, lol!
  12. Hi, I e-mailed U of T (Health Promotion) today, asking about when the decisions would be made, as I've been accepted to U Alberta and need to respond to their offer by April 5th. This was the response: "Your application is still being reviewed by the admissions committee. Decisions for the social behaviroual health sciences program will likely be made in mid April - as indicated on the application website. We thank you for your patience."
  13. Thanks! How does your friend like the program? Any idea what job prospects are like after graduation? (Not necessarily specific to Alberta grads, but in general?)
  14. Accepted University of Alberta Health Promotion!
