I'm a little late to this discussion, but I have some experience with this. I applied for an MPA program this year (I already have an MSc from the LSE) and when I was looking through my old SOPs, I noticed that I had misspelled a word on the SOP I sent to the LSE. So as others have pointed out, a typo in it of itself probably won't affect the outcome of the application, if the rest of the application is strong, you're probably okay.
