  1. this post is so sweet, thanks for posting:) I, personally, am just waiting for the wait to be over, I can't help hoping that maybe, maybe I'll get in off the wait list... something that will surely be useful to people who don't get in but want to try again next year and people who will be applying next year: what are your impressions - what is it that UofA really look for in a candidate?
  2. Thanks for the clarification. Good luck at Dalhousie, enjoy!
  3. Congratulations egad00 and AbSLP! Really happy for you! Nothing in my mailbox yet... @SLP_AWS - has UofA contacted you to let you know you're on the wait list? @egad00 - hope someone on the forum gets the place you've given up
  4. I don't know what to think any more... Apart from one very lucky person (congratulations again!), no one else on the forum seems to have heard anything. Based on what I see happening at other universities, UofA should be notifying applicants to whom they're extending offers, applicants who are on the wait list, and people who have been rejected. I really would just like to KNOW so I can get on with things. I'm really disappointed that the attitude seems to be that it's ok to let people stew and stew... and stew some more without giving out any helpful information. ANY ideas? Is there anything we could do?
  5. thanks SLPguy for this post! i think there are others on the forum who re-applied this year and got in - it's really good to know that it is possible, if you're committed:)
  6. Congratulations!!! Great news - for you, personally, of course, but also for the rest of us waiting to hear from UofA.
  7. Here's an "update" on UofA - Noriko Major, bless her heart, who knows how many people have been emailing her - replied right away: The Admissions Committee is in the final stages of reviewing applications, and they will be contacting successful applicants within the next week. Still not reasonably sure whether they've made any offers or not. Last throes I guess...
  8. Thanks! Congratulations on making a choice and best of luck with your studies UofA never got back to you? If they didn't - and your application was obviously super competitive - maybe there's still hope...
  9. I've been obsessing - just a little - about this (cryptic?) reply - I didn't understand whether it was supposed to mean that some offers have been sent out already and now they're going through the wait list as people give up their places - or no offers have been sent out at all, which I think would be kind of strange. So I emailed asking specifically this. Will let you know when I get a reply.
  10. Thanks for sharing! This is now definitely cruel... Any ideas why it's taking this long this year? I didn't get the impression that was the case previous years...
  11. Again, congratulations to everyone who got in to UofT! Enjoy! I hope UofA doesn't keep us waiting much longer... gasp!
  12. Congratulations to everyone who got in to Western, good luck to those waitlisted - that might change soon!
  13. Thanks AbSLP! Some news at last! Did they say anything about why so much later this year than previous years? Everyone waiting on Ontario schools - good luck Monday!
  14. Yes, fingers crossed... spasm! And to hopefully pick up some good karma: my cGPA is btw 3.8 and 3.9, hopefully closer to the latter end (some of my last courses were taken in Australia, completely different system there, so I don't know exactly how that will work out), subGPA should be at least as high, UofA asks for GRE and that's 170 verb and 154 quant, teaching experience, research experience and I've published (linguistics). but - it's been a while (more than 5 yrs) since I was last a student (apart from a prerequisite I took last year) - hope they don't hold it against me. Good luck to us all!
  15. No news from UofA yet? I don't understand why it's taking so long this year... of all years...
  16. Ok, a few more days then... sigh! Alternatively, no one on the forum has made the first round of offers - which would be a bit much even as worst-case scenarios go - so, I'm still hoping no offers have been sent out yet, that is, there's still hope of avoiding the waiting list. Weekends are hardest for me - I work during the week - so I don't have that much time to obsess, whereas the weekend gives me the opportunity to do just about nothing but!
  17. @aliciarose i see you're on the forum, if you read this post - have you heard anything?
  18. I wish more people had posted on the results pages... I solemnly promise I will. Just hang in there and keep your fingers crossed, mine are spasming at this point.
  19. Any news from U of A? I thought they would have sent out some early offers by now...
  20. I'm still waiting... Anyone else?
  21. Congratulations Inny and ajv! I hope there'll be more good news soon!
  22. that's along the lines of what i was thinking too - i've worked as a teacher for upwards of five years, so maybe that will help. thanks
  23. I've only applied to U of A - this is the only program that does not list volunteering or shadowing as a prerequisite, and this was something I couldn't organize for myself, so it seemed simpler to take the GRE. Do you know of anyone who got in to U of A without volunteer/shadowing experience? Fingers crossed for all of us
