  1. I'll be applying for a Ph.D. So working in industry has pretty much a neutral impact on my application?
  2. Hi all, First time poster here. I'm a junior in college currently hoping to go to grad school in physics, applied physics, or electrical engineering. My dilemna right now is that I'm not really sure what's best for me to do this summer. I've been accepted to Google, Microsoft and one or two others in software as well as an REU. I really would like to spend the summer at google/microsoft but it's completely independent of what I want to do in grad school since I'm not planning to go into computer science. And I'm not really sure what to expect out of the REU. Would it be weird to grad school committees if I work in tech my summer before grad school applications? Would it be better for me to do the REU?
