Eleven years between my first undergrad and the post-bacc program at Cal State Fullerton. My wife is open to move and she said just get in anywhere. I have driven up to the Midwest from Texas and I did like it there. The pace of life seemed to be a lot slower and peaceful as compared to where I am now in So-Cal.
I am in Southern California and I have applied to programs in the area for two application cycles and I have not gotten in. Because I am male and bilingual I was able to get hired on by a school district under a credential waiver. I have a low GPA from my first undergraduate degree, 2.2, but my Comm Dis GPA is a 3.4. I am having a hard time selling myself to the prospective schools.
Thank you for opening up about your situation. I am in a similar boat, I have applied for two years in a row and have not been able get into a program. Although, I was hired on as a Speech therapist by a district under a credential waiver. Its a little crazy that I am performing all of the duties of a fully credentialed SLP. It's been a wonderful experience and I hope it is enough to give me that extra edge that I need to get into a program.
Wow! I am so glad that I found this thread here on grad cafe. I was a little disheartened with my own situation because I have a low GPA from my first round as an undergrad, I did however bring up my gpa to a 3.4 when I went back for the leveling courses. I have applied during two application cycles and did not get into a program. I am in California and I was able to get a job as a Speech and Language Pathologist with a school district under a credential waiver. I am still trying to get into a grad program.
I applied to Cal State LA, Cal State San Marcos, Cal State Fullerton, San Diego State University and Cal State Northridge.
I was rejected by Cal State LA
