  1. Sure, will apply to a number of programs this time around, and I am not sticking to Jan. 14 only either, will be looking at next fall as well! Thanks, Cima, I appreciate ...
  2. Thanks! I am throwing everything out there.. Wow, I "feel" you on that waiting game...Hang in there, and all the best!
  3. It's a new day: I have decided to start applying for SFU's MSc Public Health for the Jan. 2014 intake. Its more research oriented than the MPH, not bad for one anticipating a PhD in the near future. I am not sure how competitive I will be, as I have never published anything...But will give it a try!
  4. Billie1991yss. Great to know you are starting your MPH this year, Congrats! On the issue of scholarship favs. between DrPH and PhD, I would suggest you call Mailman for details...I have often heard that PhD studies are generally better funded that "practice-based" degrees, but thats just from the grapevine! It could also depend on the particular school..I would check with them! Best wishes to you.
  5. Thanks! Yeah, still a huge disappointment...
  6. Cima, Thats so encouraging...its hard for me to make sense of it- but then, may be u right. Will try to call my school.
  7. The waiting has ended for me today- in disappointment. I got a response to my email- apparently, one of my official transcripts never arrived, and I did not know that...don't know whether its because I am still attending my undergrad school??? I was asked to say when I expected it to be sent it, in order to complete the application, but I really think its too little too late now that acceptances have mostly already been sent out for Fall 2013. I have decided to withdraw and re-apply next year. I am saddened but it still feels a little better than an outright rejection ...Congrats to all who made it this time ( and those who will), and best wishes to those of us who will have to re-live this experience next year!!! Cheers!
  8. Anyone still waiting to hear from SFU? I called them Tuesday, and was told i should be able to get word in the following 48 hours! Its well over that now...will be sending an email by day's end if nothing happens... ' HAPPY' WAITING!
  9. No problem sn6666; I am getting lots of support myself on this site...and venting space, too! Looks like I am not the only one still waiting- I applied only to SFU, called them today, and I was given an email to write to if I don't hear anything in 48 hours. Honestly speaking, I do not have much hope now, because many have already known their fate...why would they wait till the end to inform a successful applicant? Just a gut feeling... My dream lives on, anyhow ... Hang in there!
  10. Wow, those are great stats! Wonder what they were looking for??? Did you apply to other programs as well? Best wishes moving forward...
  11. Thanks, kindly! ...
  12. Sorry about SFU, but best wishes on that wait-list @ U of T! Did SFU send an email or change your online status? I doubt there's still any good news to be expected from there...so I am already looking @ other options, sadly...SFU was my favourite program!!
  13. I agree...they totally do not care about the feelings of their applicants ...
  14. So happy for you Kmila...and thanks a lot! I am sure something will work out for me too, what ever the case! Best wishes with Edinburg, you will ever be proud of that degree, no doubt!
  15. Oh ...I am sorry about that... So what does your application status say now? Mine is still the same as it was when I submitted the application- " No Offer has been made..." and no email, either. I had hoped for some response by today, I still feel nervous, despite the fact that all indications are that I am not going through this one too... I am glad you have Edinburg on your side- have you made up your mind yet to attend in the UK? I guess its time to dust off the SFU "ordeal" and move on, painful as it is.. Best wishes in future endeavours!
  16. Kmila, You just made my day! Congrats on your acceptance to Edinburg!! Its a great program, and coincidentally, i have been lurking around their website for awhile now! Trouble is my personal commitments do not allow me to spend a year away at this time ... But I contemplate doing that for a Masters in Medical Anthropology (UK or the Netherlands) soon after I acquire an MPH! They have 1 year programs, and I like that, esp. that I am in my 40s and still looking to tackle a PhD! S'times I am tempted to go for the LSHTM Global Health Policy online, but I am obsessed with the MPH title for some reason( there MPH content is not a good fit for me); though I am aiming at doing my own small project in the Sub-Sahara (born & bred there!) and at doing lots of Independent writing/speaking/community research to pursue my advocacy ambitions through commentary on Health equity/ global health politics, I just think an MPH could expand my horizons due its recognizability, may be land me some great name org. job someday, Lol ; What do you think about MPH vs MSc? I have many years of adult medical/ surgical nursing, long term care & clinical teaching experience in 2 African countries and North America, and also thinking about an academic career as I grow older .. I am hoping to move from clinical to public health nursing soon, and it would be wonderful to do that as I pursue my public health grad. degree! I love what I am learning about Liverpool online so far & cd consider applying there...it can be done in 18 months....still hunting for more online one year programs...time is of the essence for me, the sooner the better! Best Wishes to you, really nice find there!!!
  17. Still waiting on SFU; @ this time, any news would be better news...I hate the silence! I am already talking to Univ. of Liverpool...anyone know s'thing about their program? What about Univ. of New England?
  18. Wow! I "fell in love" with the SFU MPH program, and I thought their content ( as described on their website) closely matched my needs; It's the only one I applied to, and have been living anxiously for a couple of weeks now, waiting to hear from them! But I also like to consider "insider" experiences...and though this is hard for me to swallow, Its good food for thought! Mmmmmm what can I say...thanks for this info. "A stitch in time saves 9."
  19. Don't think so. I applied by Jan 15th, still no word!
  20. I know...@ first I thought they'd start with successful candidates before sending out rejections/ wait-listers! It looks like it isn't the case... God, let this end!!!
  21. Congratulations! happy for you
  22. Sorry about that, but good luck with UVic! I am kinda resigned to that fate from SFU, but I think i'd be relieved to hear from them at all, whatever the case...Do they give u any details concerning where u fell short? I plan on improving my stats and trying again if it does not work out this time. I may even try Liverpool online & Univ of New England for their JAN 2014, though US & UK tuitions are the "killer!" Hung in there
  23. Good 4 U, Congratulations!
  24. Wow! Congratulations to you! Good to hear s'thing from SFU..."green with envy", Lol!
  25. I could have asked the same question...appears to be really quiet today out of SFU! Can't concentrate on anything else...we may be staring into another weekend on the edge..Best wishes to you & all!
