  1. What does Courses by Appointment mean? It's there on my degree plan but my advisor told me that I do not have to take such course! Can someone explain?
  2. Hello friends! Has anyone heard from Kent State? My friend applied there and she never heard anything from the department. Have decisions gone out ?
  3. Yes, I believe you are right. I just figured out who that person was lol Thanks
  4. I just found the following item: (1/12 LM) in my application status page. Any idea what it means?
  5. I am an international student; In 2013, I was admitted at one of the graduate schools in the USA for a doctoral program. I started my first semester of the program in Fall 2013 and I finished 9 hour credit. In the following semester, i transferred to another graduate school in the USA, where i enrolled Spring and Fall 2014 classes. However, things did not go the way I expected, therefore I plan to return to the former graduate school (the one I had my Fall 2013 classes). I contacted the program's department and they advised me to reapply for Fall 2015. My question are: Do I have to mention the reason why I left their program and why i decided to come back in my statement of purpose? In other words, is it helpful to mention my reasons for leaving and coming back to the program? Is it also helpful to include a transcript of my grades of my current school? I hope someone experienced answers my questions. Thanks in advance
  6. Hi Hashlinger, your comment is appreciated I am not sure about what you mean by your claim that the English literature program are not nationally recognized at both schools! i have checked the US news website and both programs are well ranked and recognized http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/kent-state-university-kent-campus-203517/overall-rankings
  7. Hi reluctantmidwesterner! that was long name lol. Thanks for you comment. What you mentioned about the campus and the faculty is very true, at least from what i have found so far through my research. However i am still worried about the course load. Not sure if the department is going to allow me to apply some hours of master-level credit towards the 90-hour requirement. I have checked their graduate catalog and nothing is mentioned about that
  8. Hello everyone This is my first post on this forum although i have been browsing it for months. I love it and it really helped me in my applications. I am an International student and i have been offered an admission by Kent State and Ball State for fall 2013. Now i am not sure which one has the perfect program for me. But I love the program at Ball State, it is a diverse and gives me the freedom to choose the courses and the professors that better prepares towards my dissertation. However it is a very long program (90 hours credit) and this may take me 6 years to finish. On the contrary, Kent state seems to have a short program (30 hours excluding the dissertation hours). This made the program less diverse and less preparatory to me. However, i am not good yet at making distinguishing between both programs but this what it seems to me like so far. Any suggestions? I would like to hear your valuable views regarding this. Thanks in Advance
