  1. For those who applied for PGS/CGS wondering about their ranking: In June email schol@nserc-crsng.gc.ca requesting feedback from your application, be sure to include your NSERC pin etc. They will provide you with your committee rank as well as a breakdown of your scores in academics, research, and communication.
  2. Your supervisor will probably reduce (but not completely cut) the amount you get straight from the research unit, but at my university there is a ton of money specifically for students who hold NSERC awards. You probably would never get less money with an NSERC award. I just got an award and will now make double what I did last year with my supervisor's top up and other scholarships.
  3. Here is the deal in the East Coast: #1. Emailed my School of Graduate Studies last week asking if the results were in. They replied on Friday March 22 that they had received the results from NSERC; however, they were waiting to release them. #2. Received an email from the School of Graduate Studies today (March 27) saying that I received an NSERC award and that the official letter should follow shortly in the mail. The School of Graduate Studies offices throughout Canada must have the results; however, depending on the school, they are waiting for the official letters to be distributed before releasing results internally to avoid confusion (ie. McGill).
