MPH Hopeful

Hello, Can anyone weigh in on how Epi focused Queen's MPH is? From what I understand, their program is derived from the MSc Epi and is still focused on Epi. For those interest more so in health promotion, is it a good idea to pursue? Thanks in advance for all those that reply and weigh in.

Can anyone weigh in on what they think of the MPH programs at: Sask? SFU? Queens?

I think the rejections and the form the response is given depend on the school. I was notified of my Waterloo rejection by email and the change in status online. I did not get an official letter in the mail and I was rejected April 2nd.

Has anyone heard back from sask or western?

I agree with you on this. U of A hasn't been the greatest this cycle at getting responses back to applicants. A friend of mine that is finished the program 2 yrs ago in Epi also agrees with this and says it hasn't changed. I am not sure why that is. My status says it is complete and decision pending. But if yours says action required, yet, they have all of your documents, they must be overloaded with applications and trying to get back to people if they haven't even changed it on bear tracks.

For those accepted to the U of A, has the decision status changed on your beartracks?? Or for those that have been rejected, did it change or does it still say decision pending? Mine still says decision pending : / Thanks for the info

No, I haven't heard anything about funding yet. But, I doubt I will get any as my stats arent that competitive... I am sure it will as they will want a full class and all the money they can get from everyone paying tuition!! I have been wait listed at Queen's but I am not holding my breath there. I also havent heard back from 3 other schools I applied to. SFU does not need an answer until April 22nd for me so there is still time until then. Hello, Although I am not the individual your question was directed at, I was also wait listed for Queen's and I found out on April 10th by email. "Your application to the Master of Public Health program at Queen's University has been reviewed, and you have been placed on the program waiting list. Our first round of offers have been sent out and the response deadline for those offers is April 30. Beginning May 1, if necessary, a second round of offers will be made to those on our waiting list and offers will continue to be sent out until a full cohort has been formed. Please note that you will be notified whether your application has been successful or not. If you would like your name removed from the waiting list at any point, please let me know. I was given 8 days to respond to UVics offer. Not sure why that is!

Can anyone on the forum provide any insight from personal experience or perhaps experiences from friends they knew who completed their MPH with UVic online? Thanks in advance for all those that reply

Thank you for the response. I will check my bear tracks, although I am worried it is bad news since I haven't heard back from them yet, and I think that the seats for health promotion have been filled

I also just received my admission to SFU in Population Health

I called SFU a few minutes ago and I was told that the committee has already reviewed all applicants. They are just in the process of getting back to students right now. She also said to not check the status online, but to wait to hear back from the committee via email because acceptances and rejections will be sent by email.

I did not hear back from Queen's yet, but I do know for other schools, if you do not meet the math/stat requirement they expect you to have it completed by Aug.31st. They said they would check if what you have meets the requirement. You should just call them Monday to verify

Congratulations to all on their acceptances!! To those accepted at U of A (health promotion), what were your stats (GPA/Volunteering/Work experience/Other) like? Best of luck to those still waiting. I haven't heard back from anywhere and I am anxiously checking applications everyday
