  1. Bummer man. I was mainly a lurker, but I always enjoyed your posts and was kind of hoping I could get a chance to meet you. In any case, Fulbright is only one of many paths to take, and it sounds like no matter what you do you'll do great in it. Hopin' you get the chance to flesh out and pursue those badass research ideas of yours. And wishing the best to all else on this board; it is a really nice and supportive community, made the wait more fun at the least.
  2. Got the Fulbright to China! Woo!!
  3. I do not like the sound of that... How much longer can it take them? This wait is killing me...
  4. I was a Taiwan ETA a few years ago, and one of the other ETAs did this. Basically, Fulbright gives you an apartment and a nice stipend, the girl had to keep paying her rent for the Fulbright place (under 200 USD a month) but found another place for her and her boyfriend. Her boyfriend got a job teaching english and working in a kitchen. There are also opportunities, as an ETA, to put in some hours as a private tutor and make some more money on the side. This was in Kaohsiung though, Yilan might be different (if you know where you're going yet). In general though, the Fulbright support staff is extremely helpful and accommodating there.
  5. Hm. Not exactly what I was hoping to hear... but I guess it's better to have some idea... I'm hoping to be based at Xiamen, if all goes as planned. How about you?
  6. First time poster here, applying to China and playing the waiting game. Any other China applicants on here, and any word on likely notifications? I'm tempted to contact somebody to get at least some idea, but not sure if that's frowned upon...
