  1. Congrats, buddy!
  2. I HOPE it's a good sign, although in my experience these funding agencies are pretty fair in the way they handle compliance checks. I had a similar issue with a formatting thing with Wenner Gren - I find it comforting that they just asked me to fix the problem rather than throw it in the reject pile for noncompliance, but I'm not going to let it get my hopes up.
  3. Check your spam folders, folks! Congrats, NrrrdGrrrl! You've been so persistent - I'm absolutely rooting for you!
  4. Have other people found ways of putting their children into private or IB schools while in the field on academic grants? I know Wenner-Gren offers support for child care, but what about schooling? Do any other grants or scholarships exist for this?
  5. Cultural Anthros: I emailed Deborah Winslow about notifications and thought I'd share her response: "Thank you for your message. The dissertation proposal recommendations are being finalized one-by-one; there is no mass mailing, so researchers will indeed be hearing at different times. We hope to be finishing up within the next two weeks. Generally, with an NSF proposal, you should allow 6 months from the time you submit it until you hear the outcome. Very best, Deborah Winslow" Also it may be worth noting that she has an away message indicating that she is out of the office until 4/30. So it seems fair to assume we may not hear until May. Until then, try to breathe.
  6. Work your magic, Nerrrdgirl. We will NOT be hearing back today, isn't that right? *wink wink*
  7. Of course! PM me your email address. Did you apply for Fulbright too?
  8. Medical bureaucracy in East Africa. Uh oh… =P
  9. I agree, Mata. Considering that a lot of our schools wait until the last minute to make appointment decisions, it is hard to know what my financial situation is going to be over the next year... I'm also cultural anth. what's you're project about?
  10. never mind, i see from posts in previous cycles that this happens occasionally.
  11. Have people been checking on their proposals today? Mine seems to have vanished.
  12. Same here, padthai. I wonder if the August debacle will affect start dates/disbursement for January applicants. Have we seen any precedents set for this in previous years?
  13. ditto. I may eat this whole pint of cookie dough ice cream.
  14. Sorry about the NSF. Did you get a revise and resubmit at least?
  15. Last year I got the announcement at 4:01 CST so don't throw in the towel yet. Although getting off this forum and being surprised by an email is better for your emotional health, I imagine.
