I HOPE it's a good sign, although in my experience these funding agencies are pretty fair in the way they handle compliance checks. I had a similar issue with a formatting thing with Wenner Gren - I find it comforting that they just asked me to fix the problem rather than throw it in the reject pile for noncompliance, but I'm not going to let it get my hopes up.

Check your spam folders, folks!
Congrats, NrrrdGrrrl! You've been so persistent - I'm absolutely rooting for you!

Have other people found ways of putting their children into private or IB schools while in the field on academic grants? I know Wenner-Gren offers support for child care, but what about schooling? Do any other grants or scholarships exist for this?

Cultural Anthros:
I emailed Deborah Winslow about notifications and thought I'd share her response:
"Thank you for your message.
The dissertation proposal recommendations are being finalized one-by-one; there is no mass mailing, so researchers will indeed be hearing at different times. We hope to be finishing up within the next two weeks. Generally, with an NSF proposal, you should allow 6 months from the time you submit it until you hear the outcome.
Very best,
Deborah Winslow"
Also it may be worth noting that she has an away message indicating that she is out of the office until 4/30. So it seems fair to assume we may not hear until May.
Until then, try to breathe.

Nothing in my email (boo) and nothing in my snail mail (yay). I just want to know!

Last year I got the announcement at 4:01 CST so don't throw in the towel yet. Although getting off this forum and being surprised by an email is better for your emotional health, I imagine.

It surely does! Good luck! Care to share what your project is about?

Bless you! I am 40 actually. My oldest son is turning 21 next week. I am trying to see the bright side and hope for the best.
Hey...Congratulations to all my awesome friends that DID make it today! That is something to celebrate!
I am/was also rooting for you...in mommy solidarity. I feel like it is especially difficult to live with such uncertainty when you have children who are looking up to you and need your support/company. My kid is only 4 so it's different, I'm sure, but the image of me crying in a stairwell when I got the news (alternate) seems to be emblazened into his memory already.
Maybe something will break through for one or both of us. I guess I prefer not to hold my breath because it has kept me from staying present and social Good luck with whatever you end up doing!

Umm....so what does it mean if there is nothing in my inbox...? SSA, why must you play with my heart?!
Did you ever hear anything? Honestly it looks like only alternates got notice, but I hope for your sake that no news is good news!

Hi all. I am new in here. The wait for subSaharan Africa is rough. I have started compiling to-do lists for either result and it is amazing how this can affect such simple life choices as: should I get my hair cut soon?
