  1. Re: people who took GRE with Magoosh and their scores were unaffected Damn, that really sucks to hear. What did you find to be different? What did you find difficult on the real exam based on what you learned via Magoosh? What were other questions or topics that you hadn't seen on Magoosh? This worries me. I've been using only Magoosh for the past 3 weeks and my test is this upcoming Monday. My predictor range for Math is 152-157, but I've only done a little over 200 questions. When I took a diagnostic super cold with no prior prep a 4 weeks back, I got a 147 on my math part. I really want at 160, but I know it ain't gonna be easy. With that said, I sure as heck hope my math improves in the exam on Monday. I only care abou the math part, because I need to show schools I'm not a doofus at quantitative reasoning. I also have a exam 3 weeks after Monday. I wonder if I should stick with Magoosh or really tap into the Official Guide and Manhattan Prep 5 lbs book I bought recently. Thoughts? #stupidstandardizedtests
  2. Oh, I'm definitely not having my sibling write the rec letter. The school just has this option of referring good candidates to have their applications personally read by adcom. Tis all. Thanks errbawdy.
  3. Thanks to all. Good food for thought. My bro doesn't necessarily have tight relations with anyone who still works there (although he's had good relationships with various professors and such), however this school has written emails to its alumni and asked them to recommend any good candidates. Do you think my bro should recommend me? Or is that stupid? I also work with a current alumn and have several other friends that have gone to this school. So would it be better to have my brother fill out that referral form or a co-worker/friend? Appreciate any advice!
  4. My sibling went to my target ivy league business school, and graduated a few years ago. I'm wondering what everyone thinks about how that affects, if at all, my chances of getting in. My test score could be iffy, so I'm wondering if a factor such as this one could help.
  5. I'm going bonkers over who to choose as my recommenders. I am applying to MBA programs. The cream of the croppers, yes. One will be from a recent boss. While he's a solid choice, will write a great later, and is experienced and accomplished in the field I want to go into (marketing), he is currently unemployed. Is that a bad thing? Regardless of his current status, he was a stand out boss/employee and will undoubtedly craft an awesome letter. Second rec is the tough one. I have a colleague (more senior than I) that is an alumn from the school I want to go to. He can definitely speak to my character and fit to the school, but would that in any way look bad to adcom? Or is it just the usual, "as long as it's a good letter" and somehow adds something different that is otherwise not mentioned in the rest of the app? Would like to hear everyone's thoughts. Thanks!
