  1. OH other tips? Be yourself, be confident, and know yourself and your assets. Don't hesitate to uptalk yourself, you are telling them why you deserve this, so highlight your abilities!
  2. Hey! Are you applying for 2014? I start next week for my first year (J/I Science). I'll give you a few brief pointers because it really is all about getting across your passion and experience. 1) What kind of stuff did you highlight in your statement of intent? The statement of intent specifically requests you highlight 3 experiences. I talk a bit about my past and highlight how it's my dream to teach, then dove into the experiences and highlighting their importance and how they have impacted my future teaching style. 2) Did you have an academic reference from a university professor? Yes. And I went to an information session and was told this was very important, unless you've been out of school for a few years... then 2 professional ones would do 3) What kind of writing sample did you include? Didn't have to include one. 4) What was your GPA on UofT's scale? Not sure to be honest... I had above an 80% as we only had to do the last 2 years (I think?) 5) Did you have to talk about what kind of research you wanted to conduct in the application or interview? Didn't really have to, but I chose to as it's an aspect of the program that interests me. 6) (related to question 5) Did you have to contact any professors? Definitely not! It seems like you don't need a lot of experience in research to do this research project... I think they're going to help us through it. 7) Did you get an interview? If so, how was it? What kind of questions were asked? Yes I got an interview. A couple questions such as why did you apply, etc., and some situational questions. It was pretty standard, nothing felt like a curveball. 8) Did you get accepted? Yes, and I can't wait to get started
  3. Hi acarol! We start up next week, and don't really have much information about what we'll learn in our first week, or how our classes work. Could you let us know what to expect with our first week, and how the 3 hour classes work? I.e. are there breaks during the 3 hours, does it usually run the full 3 hours, do professors provide slides or is everything hand-written, is it more lecturing or more hands-on, etc.? I'll be doing J/I, specialization in science as an FYI . I can't wait!
