  1. Hi All,

One of my options this year is the PhD in Public Policy and Management at USC Price. Those who are in the program currently - can you share what aspects of the program you liked and disliked/needs improvement? Also looking forward to hearing from those considering the school for Fall 2017. Some specifics:

    - faculty interest in the PhD program and advising (or is the focus really on the MMP/MPA programs?)

    - opportunities to work at on of the many centres at the school

    - intellectual environment - frequency and depth of seminars, workshops, working groups, collaborative work etc.

Please add anything else you think would be useful to know before the admitted student weekend.

    thanks!

  2. Thanks Rob1992!

In addition to the inputs you've given me here, have you spoken to anyone who's been part of the exchange/dual programme and can give us a comparative perspective on the quality of education at Hertie?

I am applying from India and had to get my application in really early to make the DAAD deadine of July 15th! So don't compare the dates of application/acceptance with mine :). On the CV side, I'm trained as an engineer and have worked for about 5 years - extensively on the field (implementing renewable energy projects) and also on policy for the last 2 years. Have about 8 publications including a few book chapters. If you need more info, let me know! And good luck with your application!

  3. Hi All,

A question for those applying for MPP programmes. I've just been admitted to the Hertie School MPP and wanted to know what others on this forum know about it. Don't have scholarship information yet, but would like to have some inputs on the school itself before that comes in. General inputs on reputation, quality of teaching, recruitment stats and locations, and if possible, some comparison would help (especially from past students who've been part of the exchange programme the school offers).

    Thanks!

  5. Hi, Just starting out a page for those applying to, and now waiting to hear from schools about their PhD applications. I work on issues of distributed generation of electricity, renewable energy, energy access and rural development and have applied to 5 programmes. My proposed areas of study are governance and finance. Look forward to hearing from others working on similar things!

  6. Hi,

I've just completed my applications for a PhD centred around energy access/distributed generation/renewable energy. All the programmes I've applied to are interdisciplinary and are either energy/environment or public affairs/policy programmes. My focus would mainly be economics and institutional analysis. Thought I'd start this thread to gather around people with common interests and those who're applying to the same schools, so we can share info about the schools and update each other on admissions.

    My schools are:

    - UC Berkeley (ERG)

    - Indiana (SPEA)

    - Columbia (SIPA)

    - UMich (SNRE)

    - GTech (Public Policy)
