Will any former fellows comment on dress code for orientation? Business casual? Jeans?

    Got my New Zealand offer!!!

I got an offer for an internship today that would be really great and force a hard decision, if I had to pick between both. Come on NSF, I want to know already! New Zealand and one chapter of my dissertation or company I would love to work for/real-world experience?

Ugh. Why did I tell people in my office about it? Whenever I've almost forgotten someone asks me about it. My less-than-nice reply is usually "when I know you'll know! Please. stop. asking."

I'm not sure knowing when I'll know is better than knowing nothing at all. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

@Eastern_wind UoA is the location of the lab I applied to. Hopefully in four months I'll be asking for advice!

My proposal I'm submitting this year has nearly that structure. Good to hear! Re: RCR. I've been on an NSF project since starting grad school and did fourteen "modules" of RCR. Essentially it is an online lesson with a quiz at the end. When you complete whatever requirements (mine was like responsibilities of engineers) you get a PDF certificate that says how you did on all the quizzes. For EAPSI it doesn't seem like a major requirement.

Woo, just submitted. Now, the waiting game. BTW, check out this report for info on acceptance rates (and other interesting bits of info): http://www.nsftokyo.org/EAPSI-Report-Final-Full-4-23-12.pdf

Guttata: I don't have to worry about IRB given my sort of research. I've got the letter and whatnot as well. Pauli: Thanks for the perspective. I was of the same mind regarding more than one host location as well, but my advisor thinks differently. Plus, I know a guy in Aus almost as well as my potential host in NZ. I'd love to read through your successful applications as well if you are still willing to share.

I can upload the NZ handbook if anyone is interested. I have a question for anyone who's won before: how country-specific was your project? I'm going to put two alternative locations down because it's a number games, but even if I am in Aus my project will entirely be about NZ. I hope the reviewers see that as a reason to only send me to NZ (assuming the work has merit and whatnot).
