Has your status been updated on the website since your last post? Mine hasn't, but someone posted on the results board that they received a musicology rejection via the website yesterday...I don't know if my no news is a good or bad sign! Has anyone else received any news from Columbia?

Thanks very much for that info musico! I'm kinda surprised they're still having committee meetings...I had pretty much assumed that no news probably equalled bad news, but sounds like it's not quite over yet?! Did you get any more info out of the Grad Administration if you got to speak to them after your post?

I'm sorry to hear about your bad news too musico. I know it sucks to get a rejection, but you wana go somewhere where the profs really want you and will make the utmost effort to help you progress in your career, and I doubt people who won't respond to your attempts at contact would give you the support you need. I've been told by many profs that getting in contact is a great way to help personalize your app, so I think you definately did the right thing! However, having said that, I wouldn't worry too much about not getting in contact Soclose, plenty of people don't & it's not expected at most places. Plus the whole meeting profs in person / corresponding via email deal was pretty scary, I worried so much about creating bad impressions!! I'm waiting on Yale and Princeton too...I'll update as soon as I hear anything. I hope everyone gets some good news soon!

Soclose - thanks! That was me that posted a Cornell acceptance:) I'm on cloud 9 right now, after spending the last week freaking out about not having heard from places. So hang in there everyone else who's hating the waiting game. Timothy - fyi, Duke's letting in 2 composition students this year apparently. I applied there for Musicology and got an email saying that they're not letting in any Musicologists this year because they let in a lot last year & so are giving the 2 available spots to composition people.

Hi yehk - I don't know for definate, but I figured that's probably how they do it, as a friend of mine was rejected pretty earlier a couple of years ago (late jan/beginning of feb) & none of the other Ivies seem to make final decisions that early...so, I though maybe they made initial rejections early and then more rejections & their acceptances late feb/march. However that's just my guess! If they are giving out acceptances in the next week though, that's great (well, as long as we're amongst those with good news:) I'll let you know when I hear something. Hi, Another musicologist here! Congrats to those who've had good news. I'd do anything for some right about now! Anyone heard anything from Yale - good or bad? I'm crossing my fingers that no news = I didn't get rejected in the first round of cuts! That's one way to work the positive thinking:)
