  1. When/how did auburn contact you to let you know you were rejected? I haven't heard back from them yet, and I just want to make sure I didn't simply miss their letter/email. Thanks! Don't give up hope yet, either. Did you get relatively good scores on the GRE? Do you feel pretty confident about your personal statement? Do you have some research experience under your belt? If the answer to any of these is yes, it could mean acceptance is right around the corner! My GPA was a mediocre 3.6. While my verbal GRE score was good, my quantitative scores were, again, mediocre/average (for Ph.D. programs). I didn't think anyone would take me, going into this process. If there's hope for me, there's certainly hope for anyone.
  2. St. Louis University has sent out invitations to their visitation weekend! To Guagua, you were asking about Georgia Tech... I was recently told they were still reviewing applications. Fingers crossed!
  3. Has anyone heard from Clemson, UMSL, UGA, or Auburn yet?
  4. In my essay, I identified Dr. Converse, Dr. Gabrenya, and Dr. Wildman as my main POIs, but received the email to set up a phone interview from an associate professor with the department.
  5. Received an email today requesting a phone interview at Florida Tech, if anyone was curious as to whether or not they'd started getting back to people.
  6. Awesome, thank you so much! I'm sure I'll have more questions once I find out more information about the status of my application. My sister actually graduated from UGA, and it's only about three hours from my home town, so I'm pretty familiar with both the university and Athens. It's one of my top choices, so I'm practically on the edge of my seat waiting to hear back, haha. Fingers crossed!
  7. Has anyone heard from Clemson, UGA, or FIT?
  8. Just received the email that I've been waitlisted at the University of Central Florida! If anyone receives an offer, please keep me updated as to whether or not you accept it. Thanks guys! Also, congratulations to everyone who's getting into top schools like UIUC. With a 3.6 GPA, I didn't even dare apply, haha. You guys certainly earned it!
  9. Updated list of programs I've applied to: I/O psychology Ph.D. programs: UGA Georgia Tech (discussing status with POI) UCF FIT UMSL SLU Auburn Clemson Penn State (assuming rejected) Human factors psychology programs: Old Dominion (interview + visit) UCF Clemson So far, I've interviewed with Old Dominion, and will be visiting the school in February. I also received notice from my POI at Tech that he just found out he cannot fund a student this year, but indicated that he had been strongly considering me. He mentioned that two of my other POI's at Tech were still taking students, and he'd personally advocate for me to be selected, but that there were a few other strong candidates in consideration as well. It's really exciting, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I honestly thought I had no chance of getting into Tech, so it just goes to show that it's worth it to apply to your dream school even if it seems like a long shot! I'm thrilled just to find out I was good enough, even if I don't get in for funding reasons. I didn't get a call from Penn State, but I'm not really disappointed, since it's pretty far from where I live now. I'm glad several others have heard back though! Good luck everyone. Also, welcome to all the new people joining the forum!
  10. An update for anyone applying to Georgia Tech: I received an email from my POI a couple of weeks ago saying they'd be finishing up the selection process within a week or two. Since the two week mark has passed, I'm guessing we could hear back any day now! Congratulations to everyone who's started hearing back already! We're in the home stretch. It's so exciting!
  11. I don't actually have any publications of my own, but I am supposed to go with one of the graduate students I'm working with to his poster presentation at some point within the coming months. His research is actually an expansion of my own that I was doing for my capstone project. My professor and I were examining state psychopathy as a potential psychological construct, and found some evidence that it both existed as a separate construct from trait psychopathy and could be lowered with secure attachment priming! The student I'm working with is testing a refined version of the experiment in a criminal population this go-around. It's pretty fascinating to me but totally unrelated to I/O, haha. Thanks a ton for your response though! This is the first opportunity I've gotten to get feedback from anyone that really know about what I/O programs are looking for and is familiar with GRE requirements and such. You're probably some of my stiffest competition out there, I'm sure, so good luck to us both! I'll definitely want a running list of your acceptances, since I've applied to many of the same places.
  12. Hi, everyone! This is my first time posting on the site, but I've been creeping on past applicant threads for the past six months or so, gathering intel on what applications are like. I've finally narrowed down my list of schools I'm applying to and begun my applications, and I just wanted to share since I found everyone else's information very helpful in past threads. The list is as follows: PhD University of Georgia Georgia Tech Penn State University of Central Florida Florida Institute of Technology George Washington University Saint Louis University Old Dominion University of Missouri Saint Louis Auburn MA/MS UNC Charlotte Clemson My undergraduate GPA: 3.6 Jr/Sr GPA: 3.75 Psych GPA: 3.8, I believe GRE: Verbal 162, Quant 156, Analytical 5.0. Psychology GRE (for Georgia Tech only) was a 710. I wish I'd done a little (a lot cough cough) better on the quantitative section of the GRE. My practice scores on quant were consistently around 158-159, but when I got to the exam, I ran out of time on both sections. I was also practice testing in the 780-790 range for the psychology GRE, but got there and the material was completely different than what was covered in any of the practice books I studied or learned in any class. I was shooting for the 730 range, but fell just shy of that. I have 3 semesters of research experience on projects of my own design, including one that resulted in a 55 page thesis-style paper (for my undergraduate capstone course), and volunteer experience working on the projects of two graduate students. I've worked in a counseling center all four years of college, mostly doing secretarial work with a clinical internship and some other odd jobs peppered in there, and worked there as my primary job since I finished up all my classes and graduated in July. Anybody have any ideas what kind of chances I might have? Thanks guys! Good luck on your applications! I know this stuff is crazy stressful, but I'm sure we'll all make it somewhere! Fingers crossed!

Anyone have any idea what my chances are? Naturally, I'd prefer to go somewhere in Georgia, partially for in-state tuition, partially so I can stay near my home, and mostly because that is simply where I'm most interested in going. I'm really hoping for Georgia Tech and UGA above all others, but based on the program and research interests alone, I'd be excited to get into any of the schools I'm applying to. Thanks guys! Good luck on your applications! I know this stuff is crazy stressful, but I'm sure we'll all make it somewhere! Fingers crossed!
