  1. The one at U of T is terrible. I took the in-class version of the same course, and many of my classmates took the online version. It's brutal.

I've heard better reviews of the Athabasca one.

I took the U of T version online and didn't think it was that bad. Your final grade is 45% quizzes (bi-weekly), 50% exam, and 5% participation. As long as you watch the lectures you'll do well in the course. I personally really liked not having assignments or labs.

  2. I just accepted my offer at UofA!! If you're looking for more people headed to Alberta there's a facebook group started for the UofA class of 2016! If you're not already in it you should look it up  :) !

I wasn't able to find the facebook group for some reason. Would you mind posting the link?

  3. Hey! I'm also new, and recently accepted my offer at U of A, despite never having been to Edmonton!  From my lurking I haven't noticed a ton of people going west. Is anyone else heading out to Alberta?

Hey kaetd, I am also most likely accepting my offer at U of A. I've never been to Edmonton but have heard great things about U of A's program. It's nice to know that I won't be the only Ontarionian moving to Alberta :)

  4. I was comparing clinical placement hours at different universities and noticed U of A has more than double the hours compared to Western. For U of A they require 818 hours of clinical placement hours and for Western it's 350 hours. Does anyone know if students at U of A find the extra clinical hours helpful? Or maybe the number of clinical hours takes away time from the classroom, so students may at times feel unprepared in the clinical setting?

  5. Hi everyone! I have been following this forum for the last few months and have finally decided to post as well. I was a first time applicant this year and I have been accepted to U of A, Western, and Dalhousie, waitlisted at Ottawa, and rejected from McGill. I'm also no expert on how the schools are making their decisions but I am open to sharing my stats for anyone who didn't get in :(  I'm also hesitant to post stats on the forum but please PM me if you want info.

On another note, any advice from anyone on how to pick between U of A and Western?  Those are the 2 schools I'm most torn between!

I'm also debating between U of A and Western. I know someone at Western who really enjoys it and says the in-house clinic is great for experience. I haven't heard very much about U of A though. I wish we had more time to decide!

  6. I have been reading this page for a few days now and it was nerve racking reading the comments everyday because everyone on here sounds so accomplished and amazing!

This morning I woke up and found out I got into U of A! They ask you confirm to getting the email so I did and she said they are still contacting a handful of people daily and that they will be letting people know for the next two weeks. As well, we have until April 15th to reply and the wait list will be contacted after that! Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Congratulations Saly! I was also just accepted to U of A and am so relieved! I have been waiting to hear from McGill and my status just says submitted. I don't think I have ever checked my email so much haha
