Thanks for replying. Yeah I am particularly confused about whether to mention UBC or not. Nice to know that you are also going there. Have you done some arrangement for your stay there? I don't think it will be possible for me to live on campus. I have been trying to find some decent place to live. Vancouver is a costly city.

Sorry for posting this as some people have already asked such questions but I am a little scared regarding this, so wanted to ask myself. I was offered admission from UT Austin and was asked to accept by 15 April 2014. As I didn't have any other offers till then, naturally I accepted. Now I got an offer from University of British Columbia that I really want to take. How to decline my previous offer? I know this is not considered ethical but I have no other choice. Will there be any harsh consequences? I have not yet submitted any security fee. Thanks. Please respond fast if possible.

Hi Guys! Nice to find this thread. I am taking M.Sc. in Structural Engineering. I am from India and really knows not much about Vancouver (other than what I have read on internet). I have applied for campus residence but not sure if it would be better than off campus. Living on campus seems to be costlier to me. Any help or ideas regarding this. Thanks

I have been accepted to both the universities but without funding. UT Austin is higher ranked but with almost double the fee than university of British Columbia. I can pay for university of British Columbia from my own earnings whereas I will definitely have to take some loan for UT Austin. I am really confused about whether I should opt for better program or more affordable one?

Well, I didn't know that upfront. I know that was probably a mistake so plz advice what to do now?

Thanks for replying. No I do not need any prereqs. I had asked for summer admission actually and thats why the graduate school gave me summer admission but the department told me that they have no summer courses to run so starting date would be as per fall semester i.e. 27 August. So now i am kind of enrolled in summer semester but starting classes in fall. I don't want it to become some sort of problem, especially i as I am an international applicant.

Hi, sorry if I am posting in the wrong place as this is my first post. I have recieved an offer of admission from "UT Austin Admission office" for the summer semester while my intended department has accepted me for the fall semester. Admission office wants me to start classes from June while the department informed me classes won't start till 27 August. I tried to contact both the offices for clarification but no response till now. Please suggest do I have to apply somehow for change of semester from summer to fall? What should be my next step? Please help.
