  1. Hey Manifestin2010, I saw that you got into UC Berkeley for ME and got invited to diversity day. I was wondering if you got an official acceptance and when diversity day is?
  2. They usually reimburse if its for PhD. Less so for MS students.
  3. Rejected from Stanford (Aero) just now. Sad. Well my acceptance streak had to end at some point haha
  4. Congrats! I got an email from UCLA saying they're missing my official transcripts and didn't tell me until now so I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer for a decision. In other news, I got into UCSD and U Washington wooo! I also got a fellowship from USC so today was a great day good luck to everyone else!
  5. Thats half of it, theres a POI there that I really want to work with. The other half is purely because I know I will enjoy living in warm LA than in the cold isolated Ithaca haha
  6. I really wanted to go to Cornell's visit day but it is the same date as USC's so I'm probably gonna have to decline, which means I'm most likely not gonna go to Cornell I hope this will help one of you guys get an acceptance though! good luck!
  7. I also just heard from Cornell via email (accepted wooo) and to check status on website

  9. That makes a lot of sense. I'm having some trouble with fitting it all into 300 words though since I chose a school on the quarter system, so there are two extra courses I need to talk about. But thanks!
  10. Hey guys, Thanks for all the help so far. Another question I had was for the part of the app where you explain why you chose your courses. Did you write it in a essay fashion, or did you kind of just listed each course with an explanation? Thanks!
  11. Hey everyone, I had a two questions surrounding the POS: 1. Is the POS meant to be a comprehensive list of all the courses I would take in grad school? or is just a list of courses that would teach me about HPC and directly support my research? 2. If it is the latter, is there a certain number of courses required in each section of the POS? (I couldn't really find specifics for the POS besides the general guidelines..) Thanks !
  12. Nope I'm still working on my BS degree. So I guess I may have applied to their MS/PhD program instead? I'm not quite sure of the distinction since I always thought that you would obtain a MS along the way if you are admitted into the PhD program, but I'm relatively new to the application process and just started combing through gradcafe topics to understand it better. It's also holiday season here in the States so everyone is off until 1/6 so you'll probably hear something after that date, good luck!
  13. Ah sorry, you're right, I applied 12/4 (got my deadlines mixed up with another app). I applied to their PhD program.
  14. I applied to Berkeley ~12/10 so the turn around was unexpectedly fast. As far as I'm aware, I was expecting to hear from schools in feb and march.
  15. That makes a lot of sense, thanks for the responses!
  16. Hi everyone! First time posting here. I got an email from a rep at UC Berkeley's Mechanical Engineering department inviting me to visit, but the wording was a little weird and I can't tell if the email implies that I got accepted or if I'm just in a good position...? "..Congratulations! We are delighted to inform you that you have been selected as one of the top applicants to our graduate program in Mechanical Engineering. We intend to recommend you for admission to our graduate program, and would like to invite you to visit our campus on.." so that was the important chunk of the email, the other parts were just logistics. I was wondering if anyone else got this email or if you guys can give me your opinion of what this means? Thanks everyone!
