[Boston University MSW - weird decision letter]

I got the same thing today.... UGH, whatever h

 

 

Hi all,

 

I just heard back from BU today, and the decision letter said:

 

 

"After reviewing your credentials, we have determined that we are unable to make an

admission decision at this time. We therefore have decided to hold your application,

which will be reviewed again no later than April 30th. Please note that you may receive

notification of your admission status earlier than that date."

 

 

I got the same thing today, I am disappointed that I wasn't a first round draft pick, but ugh. whatever happened with  your BU admission?

[why did you choose that grad school?]

We all want to go to grad school, and we chose the schools we applied to for a specific reason. Something about that grad school was special to us. ..

So my question to you all is why was your top choice, your top choice?

[Prestige v. Price]

I am not in this major, I am a social work major.. but this is a little conundrum for me too. For undergrad I went to a state school and I applied to private grad schools. One of my professors had gone to Boston College, and he dropped some wisdom that may help. He said that if I wanted to stay and working in my state, that is fine because the program is known... But if I wanted to go to another state to get a job, a more well known University, would hold most likely hold more weight because it is more universally known.

Why not Boston University?  I only ask because that is where I am applying -- though I will not have advanced standing.

Hey I applied to bu, but in bu you can't do advanced standing until you have finished field work/can hand in a complete field evaluation. Many fieldwork places go from sept to may, so you can't hand in a completed evaluation.

I only applied to BU so far my last recommender, finished her recommendation on Dec 20th and BU says that they don't look at an application until all the recommendations are finished.

 

the other school that I applied to (or am attempting to apply to) is Simmons College (also in Boston). THEIR application is frustrating (I applied for advanced standing), some of the stuff  is supposed to be online, the other part needs to be mailed or faxed in... it is really frustrating.

 

Does anyone when BU's acceptance and Finaid goes out?
