I got an invitation to interview at University of Maryland, Baltimore a while back and I was wondering if people know about the program and what it's like?

Ratlab, I think you're right. Or at least I hope so, because those are some ridiculously high expectations for their applicants. Galaxstar, I applied to Neurobiology and Behavior at Columbia, so it's possible he was telling me about the second round of interviews. It would make sense that they'd have a second round since all of the supporting materials were due by January 6th. On another note, does anyone know about the neuro program at University of Maryland, Baltimore?

Just called Columbia and Penn. Columbia said they havent gotten to sending out their invites yet and Penn said it's done. I work at Penn and my PI said I didnt get in because I havent published or presented at national conferences...I didnt think that was necessary since I've been working in research for 4 years and I did a thesis project. Also the Penn program only requires its students to publish one paper in order to receive a PhD so it's very odd that they want you to publish even before you apply! Any words of wisdom on the application pool these days? Is this a typical response?
