  1. THIS. Also the whole interview process was eye-opening, as I had never had this kind of interview before IN SPANISH and with Mexican academics. It was way more intimidating than I imagined (and I'm quite fluent!) Next time, I'll be better prepared.
  2. Not selected for Mexico graduate degree grant... Not surprising, as the interview didn't go as I hoped. Although, I found out after applying to Fulbright that all students accepted into the phd program I am applying to automatically recieve full funding. So it's back to work on that application!
  3. Varlet, I was convinced that we would be notified this week, especially because they said decisions would go out one month after the interviews. But yeah, its good to have a better idea...I was beside myself with distraction.
  4. Yes, but I emailed first.
  5. As an applicant to Mexico, I emailed the person who sent me the initial notification that I was recommended (Fulbright-Garcia Robles, in Mexico). I don't know if other countries work that way, or if applicants received emails from the US Fulbright office on the first round notifications. I just asked if they had any information on the date that final notifications would be sent out, since I had been told during my interview that it would be one month, and that time period has passed. Very politely, and very thank you. hehe Although my interview did not go well AT ALL, so I think it would be miraculous if I got it. But, as everyone knows, the uncertainty is unbearable....
  6. So I broke down and emailed Fulbright in Mexico about notifications, since during my interview they had told me one month and that was on Feb 21--not to mention that March 26 was the notification date last year. Anyway, this was the response I received: Thank you for your email. Sorry we have not contacted you yet but we are awaiting for the confirmation form the Fulbright Scholarship Board (FSB) and this is taking longer than we expected. According to recent information the results will be given by April 11th, the latest. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.
  7. They made changes after the deadline in the posted requirements in my program too (Mexico grad degree grant), which I of course didn't follow, and I made it through the first round. I do feel bad for all of you still waiting for the notification...sooooo exasperating. I wasn't expecting to hear yesterday so I really only went through a few minutes of utter panic until I saw the email in my junk-mail folder from Fulbright-García Robles. Although now I'm in for another waiting game and I'm sure I'm going to feel even more pressure than I did before the first round notification. I'm still in the elation phase for the weekend, however.
  8. Ok, I applied for Mexico (graduate degree grant) and I received an acceptance email from Garcia Robles too. It was in my "·"·$%$ junk mail folder!! The weird thing is, it sent me a link for a survey to complete in order to set up an interview, but gives a deadline of Jan 3. Huh??? The email looks like this: Dear (my name), Congratulations! You have made it past the initial selection process for the Fulbright-García Robles Grant and have been chosen for an interview. We know you started with this process a while ago. Thus, in order to confirm you are still interested in the grant, we kindly ask you to complete the following survey which will not take more than 10 minutes: (I erased the link) You must fill the survey by Monday, January 3rd at 09:00 a.m. (Central Time) the latest. The failure to complete it will result in the revocation of your application.
  9. Coming out of the shadows.... I applied for a Fulbright Graduate Study Grant (PhD level) in Mexico; I haven't seen any others here applying for this particular grant. There are only 3 spots each year and the Fulbright advisor for the region says each year slots go unfilled! Anyway, I'm dying to hear about the first round results just like everyone else... although in my case, the Fulbright grant is contingent on getting into a doctoral program in Mexico, so that's obviously the bigger piece. Anyway, I emailed my FPA last Thursday and she informed me that she is no longer the FPA for my university, but that in past years, she would receive the results for the university's applicants a few days before the notifications went out. I emailed the new FPA who told me she hasn't heard anything other than the Jan 31st deadline, but she would let me know when/if she did hear otherwise. FWIW
