  1. I would say Cornell for academia and UCSB for industry... I think UCSB is slightly better than Cornell in MSE, but Cornell is a much better school in overall. Both have great nanoscience facilities. You would be much happier at UCSB and more depressed at Cornell, but a Cornell degree would be more prestigious I guess.. It really depends on how you feel about both, but at the end, both are really good schools. Here at Cornell, MSE is not really big, they are mostly dominated by electrical eng. and applied physics, but the engineering school in overall is pretty good for nanoscience and fabrication.
  2. Thank you for your response!.. I am planning to work with Prof. Buckwalter, Prof. Rebeiz or Prof. Larson at UCSD. At UT, I would have Prof. Hassibi or Prof. Gharpurey. I would appreciate any comments on these groups if you know them.
  3. Hi everyone, I am trying to decide between UCSD and UT.. I am interested in rf circuits and/or applied electromagnetics... Any comment would be appreciated! Thank you very much..
  4. I contacted them like two weeks ago.. they said they have given out most of phd admits, and I guess they recently had a visit weekend.. The lady on the phone said all decisions would be out by the end of march, but now I know that was not true at all..lol Thats why I was curios whether they are gonna get more people after visit weekend..dont care that much anymore.. Best of luck to you guys!
  5. Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows whether Columbia is done with PhD acceptances? Any updates would be appreciated..
  6. Hi all, I am admitted to circuits & systems track (I am a "U" in gradcafe terminology). One of the profs called me on tuesday and invited me to the recruit weekend which is on march 11-13... He said they are gonna decide on fellowships after recruitment weeekend. He also said it was different for comm. & info theory track, they decided on fellowships beforehand. He also said he was trying to contact all the international admits before he called me. Thats all the info I have.. Btw, I would appreciate if you would share your ideas with me on UCSD rfic/microwave circuits track. How strong is their program? Thanks and good luck to you all..!
