  1. @ SHolmes,

As far as housing is concerned, cheaper the better. :) I'd like to keep the prices below 400-450$ per head if I share my apartment with someone(probably 2 bedroom 1 bathroom, etc) . I would prefer to live close to campus. I have no problem with noisy neighborhood. I am not sure what other cons are there with living in a neighborhood filled with undergrads.

One of my seniors currently stays somewhere in Heritage Park.

Also I was worried regarding cars because I heard getting groceries can be inconvenient without cars. Thank you for your response though, it was very helpful.

  2. Hi all! I'm joining FSU this fall. Are there others on this forum joining FSU as well? I thought it would be nice if we could discuss a few things about the university and Tallahassee in general. I'm joining the Statistics department by the way. Any info regarding the place, campus and city life is welcome. :) Most of the blogs about Tallahassee seems to be quite a few years old. I'm sure it would be a great help for all of us joining FSU to know about the place, like safe neighborhoods near the campus, frequency of public transport, and how difficult life can be without a car :/

  3. FWIW, Pittsburgh stats has made a few offers and told the rest of applicants to wait...

:( . its kind of frustrating. I have one other offer already but its almost time to finalize my decisions and I dont know how long Pittsburgh will keep us waiting.

  4. This may hurt my reputation but after yet another self-entitled post by an international student (see Harvard rejection on results page. Off the top of my head I have also seen comments about one's international GPA being superior to U.S. undergrads because A- is an average grade in the U.S.--blanket statement and totally false!--and one not being excited about a Yale Ph.D. offer because they "expected" to get in.), I am just curious... do they/you (international students) really expect that they/you will just come in and steamroll the domestic applicants? I don't know if they/you think that we are just a bunch of obese idiots here in the states, but that kind of egotism is nauseating and ignorant.

I dont think nationality has got anything to do with those posts -_-

  5. Hi all, I am selected for an interview round in one of the universities that I applied to for PhD in Biostatistics, and they wanted to schedule 4 Skype interviews! The kind of questions that one expects in these interviews can be covered by one interview only, so I am really having troubles preparing for 4 of them for the same university. I will be very grateful if someone can share their views or similar experiences, if any. What should I expect? Its somewhat difficult to brush up every relevant topic learned over the last 4 years, isnt it?
