  1. @overworkedta I also enjoy your blog. I did a google search last night and it popped up. Congrats to those who moved forward. For my fellow attorneys who were not recommended and want to travel, consider American Samoa. They are two year paid contracts at the AG office where you can create the law and would be in court daily, you are provided provided housing, 45-50k a year, and a stipend to ship your goods from the US. Plus dress code is casual. They are always looking to hire. They do skype interviews and its a good way to get out of the country!
  2. I don't mind the wait. I'm at the office for another 1.5 hours anyway.
  3. I suffer from that! Glad I'm not alone
  4. Congrats on the Greece information! "He also told me that there was another candidate who applied for the same Greece ETA-HAEF program, and she is a top student who spoke Greek (I don't). She was not recommended." Should he have told you that? I am sure she is disappointed. I wouldn't want anyone sharing that type of information about me :/
  5. The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Program places recent college graduates and young professionals as English teaching assistants in primary and secondary schools or universities overseas - improving foreign students’ English language abilities and knowledge of the United States while increasing the U.S. student's own language skills and knowledge of the host country. ETAs may also pursue individual study/research plans in addition to their teaching responsibilities - See more at: http://exchanges.state.gov/us/program/fulbright-english-teaching-assistant-program#sthash.RU8EB4UM.dpuf
  6. On the law side, I am mostly interested in juvenile law and animal law. I was a prosecutor for several years handling juvenile court, mental health commitment hearings, and adult misdemeanors. I have worked at multiple mid size law firms too. For recommendations, I used opposing counsel. They are the ones who see me in action at the courthouse everyday, so I went with them. I have not mentioned that I applied to my current employer. As someone else mentioned, why risk losing your job when nothing is finalized yet. Same as when you are looking for another firm to join...do your job until something better comes along and there is a solid offer on the table.
  7. I am already a lawyer. Applied to Norway for an ETA. I loved my professors and law school...not the job market in Texas. We are saturated down here and many firms are offering 50k or less for 3-5 years experience. I could make that with my undergrad degree :/
