For those who did not see the status update on Virginia Tech's banner site, you may be on the wait list. I checked with the department and they told me I'm on the wait list. They've extended offers but the candidates haven't made their decisions yet.

 

Let's wait and keep our fingers crossed!

Odd...in my Application Data it only has: Admission Term, Admission Type, and Date Created. Then it goes to "Requirements"

 

There's not a Decision tab in my summary... maybe I should call the department and ask.

 I'm sure you will get into at least one, if not more, of those schools! From my experience/what I've heard, being wait listed still gives you a good chance at getting accepted. How did you hear about your GA tech wait listing?

I contacted my POI early this week and she told me. It seems that they are lack of funding this year.

Virginia Tech never contacted me in any way, but earlier today I signed into the guest banner system and found out I was rejected by looking at the application summary.

Oh I guess I would be in the same situation...I'll email my POI and check out!

No news from BGSU.. they will probably not open up the next round of search:(

I've been told by a professor at Virginia Tech who did a postdoc at GT that they will extend offers in the next week or two.

I am wondering if schools will extend invitations to international students (like me) because  it is impractical to attend their interview weekend...

I think you can contact professors to check your rankings. If you are No.1 on the waiting list it is just like an admission. Good luck!

Hey, UIUC doesn't do individual POI's. They accept you as a cohort and you decide who you wanna work with after getting there. That's what both current professors (they called to give me more detail about the program cuz i asked which POI i'd been accepted under as well) and past students have told me.

So if I haven't been contacted, is that a waitlist? Or rejection?

If you are not in the 20 it should be a rejection, in other cases I am not sure.

I think you can contact your POI to see if you are in the waiting list.

Haven't heard anything since the last email from the graduate secretary in mid Jan.

Decisions have been made. About 4-5 offers out of 12 out of 20.

Others were wait listed.
