  1. It's early, yes, but having been totally shut out this season, the knowledge that this thread's here comforts me. Right now I'm in the depressive / wallowing stage, but it won't really be all that long before I'm back to work on applications. Already about to start work on a conference paper which will hopefully turn into a new writing sample...
  2. I had so much invested in Brown, I just don't dare get my hopes up. The pattern from previous years does seem to be: acceptances lumped together in one go, then a delay, then all the rejections. There's also a note in the results board from a few years back: "Brown has finished making their decisions. Out of about 450 applications, Brown will be making 16 offers for a target class of 6" which leaves me in doubt about whether they actually use a waitlist at all. Well, we'll see. My pessimism seems to be unshakable at the moment!
  3. I'm in the same situation as you, and while I wish it were true, sadly I think it's denial. I predict a mass emailing of rejections one day this week...
  4. Maybe this is a question for a new thread (or maybe it's already been discussed at length somewhere -- if so, sorry) but what do people think about emailing schools to request feedback, after a rejection? If it's done politely, surely they won't take offence, and the worst they'll do is just ignore the request.... right? After a wave of official rejections and now several more "implied" ones, I'm reasonably certain that I haven't gotten in anywhere this year. So between now and the next cycle, I'll be trying to pinpoint the weaknesses in my applications - and it seems like feedback from schools, however brief, would be the most helpful way to do that. At the same time, I obviously don't want to alienate these people!
