Boston College MSW Fall 2014 applicants!
JMM1020 replied to sweetpiepear's topic in Social Workers Forum
I did. I logged in around 9:45a and almost everything was closed. I registered for what I could and was fortunate to have one of the sections I wanted orginally for one of my classes open up. I would email someone in registration if you aren't able to get the classes you are supposed to register for. -

Does anyone know how to activate the BC email? I can't figure it out -
I heard from Fordham on March 1st and another girl I know heard back on the 6th. We both applied to the online program, I don't know if that makes a difference. Good luck!

Is anyone else going to be attending the program part time? -
For sure! I don't think I'll be living in Boston, I will likely commute from Rhode Island, especially since I didn't receive any scholarships and will be funding my education through loans. Once I figure out how to direct message I will send you one lol We'll have to stay in contact about our experiences!

Yay!! Congrats!! BC didn't give me any scholarships and I won't find out about federal aid until April 6th but I think I'm going to go either way and just suck it up and take out loans. Their program best fits my interests and what I want to do. I visited the campus Saturday and it was gorgeous. Can't wait to meet all of you! -
I also got accepted and am wondering about aid. I don't think Fordham offers merit based scholarships, only need based but I'm not sure. I know there's a form you have fill out for loans, not sure what their procedure is for scholarships?

Some schools will actually email you if you got accepted (even if they say they don't post decisions online) and then send you "official" correspondence in the mail. BC does this.

Congrats!! Looks like I will be seeing you at orientation! -
I spoke with Fordham today and they said they are hoping to have decisions out around March 1st.
-
For sure!
-
Thank you!! Too bad you will be at BU, but best of luck!!
-
Good luck to you as well!
-
Thank you! I did not. It kind of coincidentally just happened. I feel relieved. Someone can have my BU spot now
-
HopefulMSW, I just wanted to let you know I just received my acceptance email from BC! So you should have a decision soon!
-
Thank you all for your replies! I applied to then part-time program at BC so admissions should be rolling. The email I received said anywhere from 3-6 weeks I'd hear back. I know some people have said they heard back in 1-2 weeks and that is the only reason why I considered calling to see where my application stood. I wasn't anticipating asking for it to be rushed. Good luck to everyone and thank you for your advice!

My supervisor at work has suggested I call BC ASAP instead of waiting until next week and just explain how BU is giving me a very short deadline and how BC is my top choice and see if they can let me know if is hear back from them in the next week and a half. I don't want to come off pushy as it's only been 2 and a half weeks since my application became complete. Anyone have any suggestions? Would an email be better?
-
Thanks for the reassurance I hope I get in! You'll have to keep us updated on what you decide. HopefulMSW, let me know if you hear from BC, I will do the same as well!
-
I would call BC next week and check-in, that's what I'm going to do. $300 is a hefty price to pay if you're undecided!
-
I was learning towards BC if I got in, but my goodness $10,000 is a lot given both are already expensive. I really like that BC has specialized courses in school-based social work as I would like to work in a school. I don't think BU has this option or at least it wasn't made obvious on their website. I'm going to call BC on Monday if I don't hear from them and see where my application is in the review process. I'd hate to pay the $300 deposit for BU and then the $200 deposit for BC if I got in :-/ It will be a hard decision.
-
I'm also waiting on BC. My plan is to wait until Monday and if I don't hear from them by then I'm going to call and explain my situation and see where my application stands. BU may give an extension, don't know for how long though.

I just got an email with my decision letter. Accepted!!! Yayy! Congrats to you hopefulmsw!
