  1. What number did you call? I couldn't find one on the website (likely by design I imagine). And just so you know... from the FAQ: I currently have another graduate fellowship. Does this make me ineligible for the DOE SCGF? If you currently have another federal graduate fellowship that provides tuition and living stipend support, you are not eligible for the DOE SCGF. If you were awarded another federal graduate fellowship at any point in time, you are also not eligible to apply for the DOE SCGF.
  2. Seems like it would, particularly since they're probably making calls from the east coast to all over (someone on another forum said the area code of the call was 202, which is DC). I don't get the phone call thing, or why you wouldn't at least also update the stupid status box on your website if you have the results. Maybe I'm just tired and cranky. (probably)
  3. Anyone's status changed in the online application? Mine isn't...
  4. Same boat, only I somehow pulled an HM from the NSF. I have no idea how competitive the SCGF will be, although someone did mention that they got waaaay more apps than expected. I think my proposal hit a few key mission areas for the SCGF, so maybe there's a chance - who knows...

Anyone else not get the notification email? My name's on the HM list. Don't think I want to call attention to their mistake by asking them . I just want to be sure and get the rating sheets when they come available.

    SCGF? They're killing me too!

HM. Here's hoping a little polish and a a pub or two can get it done next year. Congrats all, and thanks for the camaraderie

With the exception of a "major change" in field I think? It might be worth an email to the GRFP people about the GREs, during the application process they were very responsive and helpful to me.

http://www.nsfgrfp.org/ still says early April. If I had to deal with their inbox/Facebook messages, I'd probably just say announcements were coming in July so I could get some peace
  10. Is that for the CSGF (old one) or SCGF (new one)? I'm trying not to inflict my neurosis on the poor administrative staff...

Fair enough, I read the thread too quickly and thought you were apathetic (the user) following up a previous post (hence white guy). Sorry about that. The attitude I described (and mistakenly ascribed to you) is a pet peeve of mine, and unfortunately not uncommon.

You're making the rest of us white guys look bad. Did you entertain the possibility that s/he simply wrote a better proposal than, you even though your scores on the rating sheets were the same? There are definitely high "Very Good" and low "Very Good" ratings. Apart from that, there isn't a direct 1-1 relationship between your ratings and the funding decision: even if you're in the same field, my understanding is that some raters are more difficult than others and that is taken into account when funding decisions are made. I don't necessarily agree with parts of the review criteria, but if I don't get an award I won't hang myself on the quota cross.
