  1. I know! But they are my classmates and friends! So i know them really well and i know they are not more qualified than me! we took the letter of recommendations from the same people! and they have no research experience at all (same as mine). But i also have an internship in the relevant field which they dont. so it really doesnt make sense! I am really happy for my friends though! We had decided we would go together but now theyre going and i am stuck here! Btw congrats on your Purdue admit. I might be heading to Purdue too as i got accepted there. If i decide to go this year its going to be Purdue ! otherwise i'll reapply next year!
  2. go through the minimum verbal score requirements of each of these universities! If youre above it then you should be fine I think as you have an excellent GPA with summer trainings, research project and extra curriculars. The only problem can be the verbal score. But if youre above the minimum then youre good to go!
  3. They replied me as follows : Thank you for your inquiry regarding the decision not to offer you admission at this time. After careful consideration of the hundreds of competitive applications that came in just for the Department of Civil Engineering, there were simply not enough slots open to take everyone we would like. Please feel free to reapply for a future semester and make sure to review anything that you may improve on. The University requirement for the GRE is a minimum verbal score of 146 (400) and the higher the score, the more competitive you will become. The University minimum for the TOEFL is a 79 (550) or IELTS 6.5. The Civil Engineering Department requires a TOEFL 100 (600) or IELTS 7.0 to remain competitive. Man this is a really vague reply! :/ minimum of 146 they say, ive got 160! 100 on toefl to remain competitive they say, I've got 110! :/ I know my GPA is on the low side, but my friend with a similar gpa and less GRE score got in. :/
  4. Actually i know most of the profiles of the students who got in. And looking at some of the profiles that got in, I really dont think I shouldve been rejected. thanks for the reply both of you though. I'll email them right away!
  5. Hi, I got rejected from TAMU-College Station today and it was my first choice. I saw people with less good profiles than mine get in. I'm really disappointed since this was my first choice. Now I'm even considering applying next fall! But I want to know what was the reason they rejected me so I can work on it. How should I go abt it?
  6. Hi, I am a male! I am soon going to be looking for roommates and I am going to keep both options open (male or female). So I was just wondering how is the experience of living with a roommate of an opposite gender! Thanks!
  7. Hmm..I dont want a gap in my education. So I'll settle for Purdue or CU Boulder. Anyways thanks for the reply.
  8. Hey thanks for the reply. I've decided on CU-Boulder finally. I'll wait for TAMU. If I'm accepted I'll go to TAMU otherwise its CU-Boulder!
  9. So I received a reject from Virginia Tech for MS in Civil Engineering (Construction Engineering & Management). This was my first choice and I really wanted to go to this school. They haven't mentioned the reason for rejection but I know its due to my low grades. My overall GPA is 3.17. For First year it was 3.60 (66%), for 2nd year 2.81 (51.4%), for 3rd year it was 3.18 (57.8%). I am still an undergrad in my final year. So for my applications I had sent them the results till semester 6th. However in the 7th semester I have significantly improved my grades and i scored 64% (3.5 GPA) and I'm pretty sure I can improve more in my last semester. So can I write to them informing abt my 7th semester result and politely ask them to reconsider? Do you know any case in which they really reconsidered the student. Or is it just a waste of time?

Anybody has an idea about the situation of Construction industry in Colorado? The jobs scene and career opportunities? I have received an admit from CU Boulder for MS in Civil Engineering (Construction Engineering and Management) ! I havent really got a proper idea abt the job scenario. The coursework and the reputation of the school looks good! And i like Boulder. Its amazing from what I've seen in pictures.
  11. Hey 1 more question! What is the difference between MS in Construction Management and MS in Civil Engineering (Construction Engineering & Management). One difference i know is MS in CE (CEM) is a STEM course! But other than that any difference? Because the subjects look similar! Is any degree better than the other? I've seen that MS in CE (CEM) is tougher to get in than MS in CM! Correct me if I'm wrong! Most of the schools offer both these degrees. For example TAMU offers MS in CM in their architecture department! And MS in CE (CEM) in the Engineering department! I have an admit in MS in Building Construction Management from Purdue and MS in Civil Engineering(CEM) from CU-Boulder and NCSU!

  13. Hi guys I am from India..So I received an admit from NCSU and a reject from Vtech. Vtech was my first choice. TAMU now becomes my first choice! In the meanwhile its between CU-Boulder and NCSU! MS in Civil Engineering (Construction Engineering & Management) I also have an admit for MS in Building Construction Management from Purdue. But most probably i am going to reject it as STEM extension is not available for this course. CU-Boulder Departmental rank:15 Overall rank:34 Total potential cost without any sort of funding - $72000 Coursework is good! Still not sure abt the job prospects. But i like the place. And one of my best friends will most probably be attending this University. So i would have someone who i know since childhood with me. NCSU Departmental rank:22 Overall rank:29 Total potential cost without any sort of funding - $65000 I like the coursework here too. Dont have a proper idea abt job prospects. But would save me around $7000 compared to CU-Boulder. I am from India and $7000 would convert to Rs.10 lakhs here! So its a lot of money. So guys what do you think? Which one is better for me? CU-Boulder or NCSU? Thanks in advance.
