I think that most people would. Especially since UCSD is in the nicest part of SD too (La Jolla). I've been to Austin as well as many other parts of Texas. I agree Austin is different than the rest of Texas, but if you use this as an excuse, then you will be pretty hard pressed to like rest of Texas. I was fine with it for a while, but Texas just isn't my kind of place. Location-wise Socal has it hands down, unless you're a Texas kind-of guy. And again, if you're even considering RF - I highly recommend UCSD.

Go with Texas A&M - Americans want to recruit from American universities. A masters at ETHZ won't do you much good to the chemical engineering American companies who hire from A&M/Texas in general/America. If you want to make a name for yourself in industry in America, go with A&M. If we were discussing PhD; however, my suggestion may or may not differ. Don't take "rankings" too seriously anyway - there is an obvious impact on job opportunities/locations despite reputation.

UCSD is much more reputed for RF, and as strong or stronger than UT in analog reputation. This isn't a case of reputation recognition for ECS among recruiters. UCSD has an extremely widespread reputation and more so in CA obviously. UCSD takes the edge, although close. In addition, the jobs will be better and more abundant in CA, and CA (esp San Diego) is just nicer by all means. I would suggest only choosing UT if for some reason you would prefer Texas.

If you don't have funding at ETH Zurich and UCSD, then obviously you have to go to Madison. Otherwise, I'd honestly choose UCSD due to location and reputation in California (where A LOT of CS jobs are).

Dear arty13, There are many reasons to conclude why you were not accepted, some include: You are too much of a god damn idiot to realize GPA will affect your credibility in a graduate program. Even though many would agree that GPA is not the best indicator of success, you honestly weren't smart enough to just go with it anyway for the sake of your future. Smart people realize this, and thus have secured their spot in your intended program at Berkeley. You managed to convince the PI at Berkeley that you're a little shithead without realizing it. You applied to only one graduate program. You assume anyone at Berkeley gives a shit about what you have done in comparison to what you will do with them. Noone wants to get headaches from working with a god damn pirck all day, whether or not he/she is right sometimes. I have (as I assume many here have) concluded that you likely have a severe case of autism; please get this checked out for the sake of everyone here.
