Haha, this is very entertaining. I'm not gloating though. I think OP can do 3 things: 1. Confront with the committee about their decision. 2. Cultivate healthy and positive personality, trust me, it's for your own good. 3. If you are so good as you described, given the right attitude, you can be successful in your career no matter what. A Ph.D degree won't define you.
